Infestation Has Begun!

<div class="IPBDescription">Infesting textures from ns.wad...</div> Well, I read in a post someone would like to see this, as I myself would.

So, I've started...couldn't take it after about 12 textures though. I'll work on it in bits so check this thread every now and then.

    I've done quite a few infestaion textures myself. Maybe we should organise a forum infestaion WAD. We might even be able to get it distributed with 1.1 so we don't have to -wadinclude them.

    Sounds like a good idea, why not do it here?


    Take a screenshot from wally showing which textures you've infested.
    So we can check this thread when making new ones.

    I like this idea a lot, it will save me(all of us) much time!

    i havent looked at them in game yet, so i am not sure how they look exactyl. But it seems to me that infested ladders, grates and wires would have a few more tendrils connecting the rungs, bars and wires. The infestation spreads after all. It shouldn't be too hard to do while maintaining good tiling ability.

    If someone would like to volenteer to collect everyones submissions, test for tielability, correct alpha's, etc, I would be more than happy to contribute.

    (I made a hanging version of the infestation, but it should be released with NS 1.1 anyhow)

    I have time and a cable connection, i'll do it! I can set up a simple test map with a few floating blocks for various alpha tests, then say if it worked or not.

    I didn't test them all, just the ones i thought needed testing (alphas and blending) and they worked beautifully! Only problem is, hardly any textures we're fully infested.
    If you don't mind i'd like to use these textures in my maps!

    Its from the gestation ptrite (that transparent one) changed into an infinite texture.

    Ollj, I really dig that last texture! Does it seam well with the first gestate image?
    You should slap them in a wad file for us to check out!

    If you all would like I could take these textures(the ones posted in this thread) and make us one super infested wad file. An all-in-one kind of thing, ya dig?
    Of course I would rename some textures to set them apart in VHE textures browser. ****, that reminds me, I think two of the textures in my wad were already infested! *doh* Oh well, just different version I guess.

    We can set a cap on texture amount, about 200 per wad (ns.wad has 578!) just to keep things simple.

    So how does this sound guys(and gals??)?

    Please, if you have textures, take a screen shot from Wally and post here.

    That first shot looks crazy sick! I love it!

    You should add some depth to the ground level though. So it's more like the walls.

    sure i know.
    When making the ground level not flat you get a lot of problems,
    - marines cant build on it -> ballancing
    - ups and downs make you werid in comnbat
    - you could get stuck or hang in a leaf (=kind of invisible wall) (bad leaf portals)
    Feedwater hive solved this nicely.
    Ill now try the red texture less on top and more in the back side (+bottom).
