At the GDC, where Flay and Def are
The 5th Annual Indie Games Festival is going right now at the GDC (where Flayra is for the next week with Def_One). All of these games are independently produced by developers (often students or hobbiests), and once a year the best 10 are chosen for a final showdown of games. They're typically very innovative and not the usual crap that the big publishers kick out (More pixels! Reflections! Curves! New version of the same gun from the last version! Bigger 'splosions!!!). They also often release for free or have interesting demos, so be sure to check 'em out and support your local indie developer (of which we are one as well - they don't allow mods in this competition though).
Some of the more interesting, cool, or weird ones I saw:
Breakin' Battle - It's an electric boogaloo!
Vektor Space - 3D multiplayer Tron lightcycles, kinda
Basegolf - You got Randy Johnson in my Tiger Woods!
Mr. Big Shot - Buy low, sell high
Samurai - Boardgame style in medieval Nippon
Strange Adventures in Intergallactic Space - 4X Fun
Teenage Lawnmower - Exactly what it sounds like, and so much more
Post your thoughts after you try out some of the demos. A lot of them are really short and fun. Some even have MP, if you feel like taking it up a notch...

What sets Vektospace apart from these games is that you are not restricted to 90 degree turns, if I interpret the screenshots correctly.
