Ns Mapping Help!

I am new to NS mapping there are a few things that i have been having trouble with in my first map that i am throwing together.

First: How can i get text to fall down on the screen like the countdown in seige or when you join a game "welcome" falls down. i tried setting it up like i did in HL with the game_text and muilti manager but i can't get it to work. I can get doors to work under the function and that sort of thing but not text.

Next: What is a good pace for the Res output in a game to give the advantage to the aliens? Should i change the hive output? give them more Res nodes? or up there starting res?

3rd: Is there a way to set one hive to always be the aliens starting hive? or does it have to be random everytime? Also can the map start with Res Nodes built already?

4th: Is there a way to shorten the fuel in a jet pack? so they can't fly as long?

I will probably think of more later but that is all for now... thanks everyone.

    3 Random, and the res node closest to the hive comes pre built

    4 You can try changing the gravity of the map, but it will effect hopping jackasses, and skulks leaps

    well im basicly confused about the alien injection interval, alien injection amount and hive interval in the info_gameplay....



    Also i still couldn't get the Test to work in NS, the door triggers work fine and everything, i just can't get the text to work..

    Don't be confused. The only info_gameplay property still supported is the numbr of starting hives (for testing purposes only).

    Jet packs will be nicely nerfed in version 1.1

    Thank god, Jet packs can destroy a good game real fast.

    I got the Hive situation under control now, thx.

    About the other topic with the tex... any help on that one?

    I just need something like in seige00x when the count down and text that comes at set times... I know how to use multi managers but when i have them trigger the game_text it does nothing... i get no text at all !!!     did u set the flags right?

    if the flags are not "all clients" then on one will see them

    Ya, that is if you are talking about in the game_text object. The flag is set to "all players"...

    Well instead of started a message on a very newbie question i''ll post here.

    can anyone tell me why when I change my func_wall 's properties to Opaque it wont block the func_Walls? Is it the fact i'm using textured lighting or something else?(with Eldrich's fgd supporting nopaque)

    ok i still can't get it done... i have tried everything with the game_text and even when i just have it tied to a trigger pad it still won't display text... I can get it to work when a door opens or something breaks... but only for the person opening the door or breaking the wall... not the entire team...

    PLZ!!! this is all i need for my map and i can call it good... I am spending way too much time on this map and want to move on to another one, but i must get this to work first.... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    why n ot make a trigger pad under each player spwan zone (if you want to have fixed spawns) or name the entitys with - game_player_spawn or game_player_die (i have not mapped yet for ns, but 99% of hl mods use these resevred entity names)

    Well here is the thing... i think it is on the text end of the situation and not on triggering. I think i might be doing something wrong with the game_text part. I am not sure if i need to change anything in there to get the text to show up in the NS style or something.

    Is there some command that can be put into the game to disable or enable text on the screen in NS or something? i played Seige like 3 days ago and the count down thing worked fine, NOW when i play it i don't see any of the count down or anything... I am wondering if i did something to my HL start up to mess this up or something...

    i read that typing "text help" in console makes the help icons apper, or disaper - try that <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
