Ns-forum-mappack

<div class="IPBDescription">why not ?</div> What do u think about making a NS-forum-Mappack (working title) ? The deadline for NS v1.1 maps has been set for February 14th, so lots of good maps won't be in NS v1.1, but if u guys will make an Forum Mappack, it will be a chance for all the maps (like ns_goliath) that wasn't submited on time. Make an deadline, find a host and done. I'm almost sure that more than 5/6 maps will be submited for this (and remember that maps from packs are more offen played on servers than normal semi-custom maps, just look at CS packs).

And ohh lol, sorry for my English im still learning <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I know there's a number of people still working on maps who couldn't get them playable by the v1.1 deadline. If a tentative map pack 'deadline' was set to a couple of months from now, I'd expect you'll get a lot of response from interested mappers.

Having a good solid map in a heavily-distributed and officially-acknowledged map pack is basically the next best thing to 'official map' status. I'd expect that there would have to be a certain level of professionalism in the maps that get included in the pack, so it's not like it'd just be a zipfile of random contributions. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I won't be a host, but i'll be a tester. I think that someone (or 2) else will help me test them. The host could be a tester too. The deadline will be set to 1.06.2003, its a lot of time but maybe ill change it if guys will really want.

    Now we need:
    maps
    host

All interested ppl plz post here your email (and if u are a mapper; link to your map)
or send all the information (& stuff) to:
    <a href='mailto:piotrek_xav@hotmail.com'>piotrek_xav@hotmail.com</a>
    or
    <a href='mailto:piotrek-xav@o2.pl'>piotrek-xav@o2.pl</a>

Sycophant, maybe u wanna help test them ?

Yo people I'm releaseing a map pack of the 5-7 top best custom maps when NS V1.1 comes out. That way we will have

    a) lots more maps to released
    b) there will be no double releases (I.E. an old ns_whatever that has been included with nsv1.1)

I will be releaseing it 1-3days after ns v1.1 release.

Ahhhhhh!!!! Another deadline....hum...maybe i could make it...

Anyway i find this is a good idea as not all maps submited for 1.1 will be chosen as i heard there's a lot to chose from. This doesn't mean those not chosen aren't worth the game, a little "forum" mappack could give those maps another chance...

For my map theres a few pics here:
    <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/Map.php?UniqueID=152' target='_blank'>ns_aurora</a>

i haven't done a lot on it yet, its only like a 2 week job and those pics are already out of date...im on holidays and its moving at great pace...

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I will be releaseing it 1-3days after ns v1.1 release. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I might be able to squeeze my map into that deadline, but that all depends on how long it takes for v1.1 to be developed, playtested, tweaked, and finally released.

My map (<i>ns_frostbite.. the real one, yes <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--></i>) is at about 40% or so. I just started the first hive location today, so I figure I can have the map playable anywhere from a month to six weeks. It probably won't be pretty at that time, but it'll be playable. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    If I miss Revenant's pack release, I'll be sure to have it finished by June 1st. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

OK, everyone that want to have their map in one of the packs listen up !!!

<!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo--> If u will end your map before the NS v1.1 release, talk to Revenant.

I'll probably (P-R-O-B-A-B-L-Y) change the deadline to 8/1/2003, but it will depend on how many mappers will have problems with ending their map on 6/1/2003. About the beta-testers ... i dont know u guys to good, so I'll be testing, some of my fiends and the host, sorry (ohh, but if someone was working on a Map pack and tested some maps, I'll be happy if he could help).

    Ohh and don't forget : P-R-O-B-A-B-L-Y

I'd be more than happy to host any map packs on NS Archive, as i'm sure Chrome would be to host them on NS World, once said pack is released.

"All the apparent submitted maps above"

Right to the people I have listed above with their map. IF you wish it to be submitted for the NS Forums v1.1 Map pack just incase the map does not make the NS V1.1 grade then please PM me the map name and a download site.

How to choose? The forums will be voting in a forum poll on the best map they like. The top 5 will then be playtested, then released if its final that these are great quality maps. Other mappers can also PM me with their maps and a download site.

i can host the pack, but i can't do much about a custom server - my site pulled just over 2 gigs last month, and today (5.3.03) has pulled just over 690 megs - i want to see my site pull as much as it can - so hosting the map pack would be sweet as!

For anyone who is interested, I package maps into real windows installers using the Wise install system..

You can see a sample of my work over at <a href='http://www.Mayberrygames.com/ns.html' target='_blank'>http://www.Mayberrygames.com/ns.html</a>

I have package over 160 maps of both DoD and NS for Mayberrygames and I would be happy to do a custom map for anyone who would like one.

If you are interested, please drop me a line over at Mayberrygames.com or PM me here in the forums.
