i didn't think it was THAT bad... i just watched it... i agree that the very last scream was pathetic (for the hundredth time) but all in all i liked it. i loved the way the first marine died when his head whipped back after being slashed by the skulk... excellent! it reminded me a lot of the intro from starcraft: broodwar. nice work guys!

    *two thumbs up*

I loved the whole thing, only bad points I can see are:
    The moving dead body
    The Final Pathetic Scream

Oh and I'm waiting for the next part egerly.

Where can I download Militia II....I really wanna see it (also what mod is it heh)
  • xer0xer0 Join Date: 2003-02-25 Member: 14010Members
Stung: www.fileplanet - search for militia2 (depends on which quality you want, the movie can get big, it is like 29mins), and it is Counterstike, even if you dont like the game, you should LOVE this movie.

Also, as a director for Chaos Films i can say that when we go to film we dont enjoy having every guy screing around and messing up the "set". There are the times we do have fun and the times we gotta be serious, i could tell regis was gettin frustrated when we filmed DH, so i tried not to get on his nerved verymuch and tried to calm people down...its a fun experience <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ask xer0 how frustrating it can be on any movie when filming. When you film with more than 5 people, it gets a bit difficult at times. And moviemaking isnt an overnight process. I remember asking the guy who made Milita 2 how long it took him to make it. He told me 5 months. Wow, 5 months.
I dont know if we plan on making the 2nd one 30 minutes, but definitely longer than the first, and of better quality.

(btw, the skulk that bit the guys head off...that was me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->)

Papercut, if you don't have anything nice to say about it, don't. YOU try making a better movie! They worked their **** off for it! Sure if wasn't perfect, but what is?

oooh oooh, how about a film based on Six Days in Sanji? That would be sweet <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

It's too bad that skulks don't orient to the surface.<!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> It would have been realy cool to see skulks advancing on the last marine from all directions including the walls <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
An inside view from a skulk going down the wall might creat a similar effect though.

BTW how did you creat those matrix effects? An outtake version of the film would be fun to watch. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

All in all I liked the film and can't wait for the next part <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I dunno why but its always nice to see that 1 guy popping his head above the rest. If you've ever watched a Rambo movie in the theater there is always one loser in back row who says "wait, the grass-hut blew up twice! what a stupid movie!"

    This is him. Cheers.

  • KeyserKeyser Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13591Members
Pretty good, xept the voice acting was a litte iffy, but otherwise it was hot
  • Omega1Omega1 Join Date: 2002-11-29 Member: 10263Members
Ok, instead of pointing out all the good stuff, I'll point out the few bads...

    1) as was said, the voice acting was so-so. I thought that the HA guy sounded fine, but other than that, it was mediocre <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
    2) Was this all captured with the gamma maxed out? To me, it seemed a little too well lit to set the mood for me, especially since I play with everything maxed down <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
    3) Also kind of ruined to mood when those aliens were hitting the use key in the cargo room. "Daddy, why did that doggie make that beeping noise?"
    4) Unit cohesion seemed a bit off in some spots (i.e. Marines getting stuck on walls and then sliding off them), it could have had some more practice put into it.
    5) Not to sound racist, but I thought it funny how when the big ol'e door opens up, all the marines were african american, and then when they're in other locations, they seem to change their ethnicity over and over. I know this is something harder to fix, but, it'd still be managble, since this is being seen by thousands. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
    6) The repeation of the death when the skulk leaped into the unarmored marine. I thought it was 1 too many, and should have stuck with 2.

There are other subtle things I noticed that kind of bugged me, since I noticed things way too easily, but, take this as contructive critism for the next one. (And try not to breathe down on the mix next time <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->)
