Westwood Dead?

Is this true?
I searched for westwood, and didn't find anything in these forums, so im posting this.

I heard that westwood is dead, is this true? And why?

I would hate to think the maker of the Command and Conquer (along with red alert and Dune) series would die off, is EA doing this?

EA recently restructured their development studios - the name 'Westwood' fell victim to that process.

Personally, I think this is still much too nice for the people who brought us Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, and Lands of Lore 2.

Well the most recent Command & Conquer game (General's)
has the EA logo all over it. Maybe EA bought them out or something.

Hmm, i just went to www.westwood.com and got a pop-up saying:

Oh and, the URL now says http://westwood.ea.com/ (notice the EA bit?)

So looks like they're part of EA now.

EA have owned them sice before Tiberian Sun came out. I remember it well because Tiberian Sun had a delayed release because EA threw some extra cash their way before it's original release date. That was years past now though. So like nemisis said this must be part of EA's restructuring.

Yup, Westwood was made a part of EA. Not an altogether bad thing. New location in LA and synergy bonuses like access to more resources and the help of other "studios" working under the same roof. Las Vegas wasn't really a good choice of location considering employees and connections to gaming biz. Benefits for EA are clear. Stronger brand, more concentrated company structure, synergy benefits...

So, the name was what was killed in the process, not the employees. And it is the employees who make a game studio, not name or location.

i'd rather have a M$-game then an EA-game.... and that is what i think of EA....
