CPU/RAM requirements
Could someone give me a rough estimate of how much cpu/ram a dedicated server would use per person? I want to run a 12 player server for clan scrimmages and the like. Bandwidth isn't an issue here, I just want to have a rough idea of what kind of a system I'd need to run the 1.04 Linux NSDS. Also, will 1.1 have lower/higher requirements?

Flayra has stated that 1.1 will have a significant reduction in CPU usage.

RAM is negligible; Throw 512 MB in there and you'll have plenty. 256 is probably sufficient for Linux/FreeBSD, but Windows has a lot more overhead, so you might be a bit thin there.

CPU...I don't have a good per-player number, but I recall reports of running 12-player servers on CPUs in the 800+ MHz range. That's on the low end, so you probably want to add a few hundred MHz at the least, even more if you want to run the excellent but resource-intensive maps Hera and Bast.

though mine is a win32 server, I've got an athlon 1.4 and 512 megs, and I run 16 players (with 4 of those designated admin only slots). Typically 13-14 players on and pings are typically 20-30ms for the lowest pingers (bar me of course on 5-10 )

That runs very nicely, and pretty much never lags (except when I VNC to it!)
