Jk2 Community = Worse Then Cs Imo
<div class="IPBDescription">Imo...</div> Ok ive played in 2 servers today...
1 was a person who has a script to kick everyone off server, drop people if they won, and he would lame.
1 Was someone who was with a friend and just kept kicking and dropping everyone... Jeeze, you find friendlier people in cs.

Play in Clan DMF server, its a German Server but it's
friendly and full of very good Jedi
I do ever so hope you are joking. People who repeatedly do things like that are one of the biggest 2 reasons JK2 multiplayer became worthless (the 2nd reason is that Raven and LucasArts gave up on patch support to balance against people who were causing reason 1)
That move, done by anyone who knows how to take advantage of it, is quite literally unblockable. I don't mean unblockable as in "takes skill to avoid it" or "is countered by a rarely-used force power"; I mean <i>unblockable</i>.
ArtifeX, the maker of the ProMod (which, thank the maker, actually makes multiplayer worth playing) posted a full write-up of force pull + saber throw and why its populatity caused him to stop playing JK2 online entirely. <a href='http://www.oculis.org/promod' target='_blank'>www.oculis.org/promod is the website</a>
The Oni engine would have made JK2 so .. SO much more fun to play.
Heres hoping to JK3 on the Doom 3 engine <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
More fun that way.

And here we come to the dilemma of unmodified Jedi Knight 2 multiplayer:
With force powers, you open up the possibility to unblockable moves.
Without force powers, the only thing separating JK2 from any other online shooter like Quake 3 is the lightsaber. And with the lightsaber, you run into the problems that ArtifeX has stated on his website...
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->So what is it that needs to be fixed?
Two major things: One, the saber combat logic has been fundamentally flawed since the very first version. So much so that you can actually hit someone from behind while standing in front of them. The overly-lenient blocking system has allowed even those completely new to the game to wade into a grand saber melee and come out the other side with barely a scratch. Two, the logic is just foul with calls to random number generators. Any professional gamer will tell you that that is the death of any game that wishes to be played competitvely or professionally. Why bother training yourself to be better at a game whose major component is luck? How would you like to lose a tournament match with thousands of dollars on the line to the roll of virtual dice?
<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The most significant changes made by the ProMod, such as the 2nd crosshair, are aimed at these exact problems. In as many cases as ArtifeX could think it was possible, random number generators were replaced with things like the aim and the direction/momentum of both the attacking and defending players for each attack/block.
It's a pity there are so few servers running the mod. Hydroball (sport oriented, no weapons) and the ProMod are the only JK2 mods I have honestly had any fun with to date. Perhaps more have come out since then. Perhaps over spring break I'll check out if www.jk2files.com is still active, and if any new developments are enough reason for me to re-install the game. Until then, it's NS and singleplayer games for me...
I.e. sad people who don't see the difference between the star wars universe and real life <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
If people wanna RP, let em! It's not "sad", it's what they find fun.
Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!
Roleplayers do frustrate me at my uni, the 'lurps' (lancs uni role playing society) regularly dress up in armour and go hit each other with sticks in the local forest. Ive even seen a video of a group of middle aged men in skirts pretending to be wizards ffs.
If thats not sad I have no idea what is. Role playing can be fun, yes maybe ive done it myself when I used to play <b>Ultima Online, but for gods sake I did it very light heartedly, not shouting 'tard' at everyone who didn't talk in olde english etc</b>. I also didn't fall into the pit of believing you are what you're role playing.
I AM A RELA JEDI KTHXBI!1 <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--><!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Hah! God I hate that game.
