Yeah, we have LANs here in Ontario around where i live. Its mostly a local thing, but we have discussed renting a hall and get people from all around to come, maybe a $10 reg fee, but thats it. It would be the Simcoe/Georgin Area though. Dont know if thats around you.

if enough ppl from Vancouver, BC are interested, we can reserve a LAN cafe and NS there. i know of one downtown that might give us a break on costs. they also loaded up NS on my request. saves us from lugging around our boxes

I do Lan with friends, nothing big. I'd love to participate in an NS Lan but I live in Québec.

Yeah, I'm in the same situation. The biggest LAN I've been at so far has been about 15 people, and they were friends and friends-of-friends.

It was still a blast, but the networking hardware consisted of three weenie 10mbit hubs. At least 5 of the systems were doing heavy mp3/movie transfers at any given time despite all pleas that it wait until later, which ended up completely flooding the network with crap data.

    Oh, and I'm in Newfoundland.

hrm I seem to Lan a lot in Canada, specificaly Vancouver BC. I host small scale lans every now and then but the best Lans here are at SFU (Simon Fraser University) Our last one had aprox 30+ people show up including Niteowl ^above^. Unfortunatily it's invite only and we barely had enough power for that many computers in the room we were given. However, if you want to increase your chances of being invited to an SFU Lan, hang out with us in our forums: http://nsoldfogies.dyndns.org/

oh yes our lans also run on 10/100 switches.. whats a hub

I'm in Montreal, and there are TONS of lan parties here. Several a year.

The next one is Intel Lan ETS, May 22nd, 300 people. Entrance fee is 55$ at the door. http://lan.etsmtl.ca

There's others too, MSL, Polybash, etc.

Heh. I'm from BC, but I've never been to a lan.. Mainly due to the fact I live in Tsawwassen... No one here even knows what lan is.. and usually if they guess, they just think its the name of the Megaman Battle Network guy

That and I don't have access to a car and I'm not taking my compie on a 3-5 hour bus ride out to Vancouver.. Especially when I always fall asleep on buses..
