File Consistency....

<div class="IPBDescription">for sounds??</div> umm yeah, i just tried to join this server and it said "server is enforcing file consistency for vox/sreq1.wav" I changed a bunch of my sounds and when I played that one is was a marine taunt...I changed it to the starcraft marine saying "Are you gonna give me orders?" and the server wouldnt let me join....I am sure that they enforced consistency for more then just that sound but I didnt get any further then that before i typed quit.

Any ideas on why a server would enforce consistency for taunt sounds?

they probably had it enforced because some people make the footsteps very loud.

He meant the taunts I believe.

I have never incountered a server that forced taunt consistancy, then again I don't think sreq1.wav is the taunt either, but the next obvius question is why to keep consistancy on any of the voice/vox sounds. I know I personally switched some of the alien communication sounds to something easier to recognize and distinguish (my voice), but I have never faced any consitancy problems related to that.

sreq1 is the soldier saying "Where are those orders?"

I did some testing, no idea why it was enforcing sound files. It may of been some enforcer of total fairness taking the model file enforcing a bit further with some server mods.

i hate that. i gotta keep 2 sound folders, my customs and my NS originals for CAL scrims and matches. i know we live in an era of cheating, but sounds???

my AWP sound for CS just says "boom" <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

my bite for skull USED to just say "bite" <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> amazingly i didnt throw my computer out the window due to annoyance.

file consistency is on all sound and graphic files, to prevent sounds that could aid marines, like a super load sound for aliens walking or something, or changing the model to pink teddy bear with a bullseye so it's easy to see...that's why, that and to prevent openGL wallhacks...

doesnt the file consistancy error only happen when the new sound file is a completly different size ? eg: origenal was 20kb and then new one is 500kb.

oh and how come it has file consistancy for sound and not models ? ? ? i replaced marines with cs models for a while, lol. very buggy. the prigenal models are too good to replace with crappy cs ones. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

it's for models too, it depends on what server you go on, it's only reporting that one error because it's the first one it comes across, not all server enforce file consistency <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

as for your sound file, it checks the checksum of it, to determine if it's the original file.

oh lol ... well the origenal models were around 500kb, and the ones i used were over 2mb.. and it still worked on optus servers <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
