i've been playing for a few weeks now and I seem to have the hardest time in the dark areas of maps (which seems like a lot of them); it doesn't matter which team i'm on- other players always see me before i see them. how dark is NS supposed to be?
Well, there is a "gamma tuner" program in the NS folder that can help you to figure it out. Personally, I have a moderatley bright montior, and then in game, I turn everything for glare reduction and gamma down all the way, because it's jsut more fun that way <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Unfortunately we can't standardize the brightness for everybody, so there will be people who are willing to sacrifice atmosphere for a washed-out look and be able to see people in very dark areas.
Brightness depends on your monitor and video card brand and settings, as the same HL settings could be different on both. Also for me if my monitor is on for a long time, It is brighter than if it's just turned on, so I have a hard time when just turning it on.
to have ns work " the way they want" it should be dark but almost never go completely back. this is frowned upon by the powers that be in teh maping community especially:)
