my game stops, don't stop but CRASH and it says tht an error has ben provocated in FMOD.DLL

    go to <a href='http://www.fmod.org' target='_blank'>http://www.fmod.org</a> and download the last version of fmod.dll
    See if it crashes or not.

    You probably installed something which overwrote your copy of FMOD in the /half-life directory; probably another mod recently? The library is used for some of the sound elements of NS and other games. Here's the onw we ship if you just want to replace it:

    Extract this and overwrite the fmod.dll in your hl directory.

    Are you using openGl or Direct3d? And what verison of DirectX if direct3d? And what version of what drivers on what video card if using opengl?

    Ok, before we spend too much more time on this:

    1. Rename your NS directory to NS.backup
    2. Reinstall NS from the installer
    3. Try to play
    4. Come back here and tell us all about it.

    Redownload the installer from a different website.
    Backup the NS dir to ns.backup2.
    REBOOT
    Run the NS install with nothing else running.

    You will sometimes get that halted error if you fail to close all running applications. Like it reminds you about several times. Just reboot and install without loading any other apps at all.

    Delete fmod.dll You won't have the music but I'm sure you'll be able to play. (delete it also il the windows ans windows\system sirs)

    BYW 1.04 was a server side patch so
    A. You do <b>not</b> need to download it.
    B. There is no way 1.04 could have this effect on your machine...

    Summary...
    Forget about 1.04 related probs.

    ERRRRRHHHHHHH i've delete the fmod.dll(s) from my hd..know...when i start NS it says that he couldn't load library c:\Sierra\Half-Life\ns\cl_dlls\client.dll erhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    lol Don't start the game with the desktop shortcut. Use the Start menu shortcut instead because the desktop one is borken.

    I'd just like to chip in and mention that I have exactly the same problem, whenever I try to join a game of NS I crash and get up a message about an error in fmod.dll.
    The problem is unlikely to have been caused by another mod overwriting fmod.dll as the last mod I installed was NS (and that on top of a clean HL install as well), nevertheless I tried downloading the updated fmod.dll file, but the problem persists.

    This thread needs more general update every driver for every device you have until it works.

    Also, what version of Windows are you using, since I don't think you mentioned it? Also, if it's 2k or XP, are you patched up to the latest service pack?
