i downloadid it a long time ago.. it really has nothing useful in it anymore, it was just so we could test our maps and such thing.

like, the ready room and what not, it was very simple,

    suming it up.

there is nothing you can do with it that you cant do with the full 1.0 ns

Well I need some kind of pack that has NS entities/prefabs in it so I can make my own NS map... I cant find them anywhere. (if you know where could you post a link?)

prefabs? sorry, but as an NS mapper we dont so much have prefabs, as then all the maps would be similar.

if you use the hammer editor, all the textures and such things are in the NS/HL dir.

there called .wad files, and hammer imports them, and poof , textures of ns.

ther is a ns.wad in the hl/ns dir i think. thats what i use anywys., and i downloadid a special wad that i use as well.

entities, i think there is another custom ns thing in there that automaticaly does it, frankly, i dont so much recall what i do or what i did, as im ****.

id first suggest you get hammer editor or something first.

*edit* forgot to put my tag, and called myself **** somewhere in there*

You need the NS FGD file, and the NS client installation (which includes ns.wad, your texture file). Check the mapping FAQ.

If you're brand new to mapping, NS is a very difficult game to map for; you might be better off practicing simpler designs to get the hang of things. regardless, check out www.valve-erc.com for mapping tutorials and other helpful things.

I'm not that new to mapping... in fact I have made several TFC maps before. I didn't ask a damn thing about textures. All I was looking for was some ns prefabs so I could use their entities... Thanks, coil for letting me in on the FGD file. I have hammer editor actually, but thank you for assuming I did not. Back to my original question... which is why started this thread anyways.. where is the tech release?.... Or if nobody knows where the file is, then don't bother! (BTW, if I get it working, I'll be sure to make some nice NS prefabs, then post them all over the internet with a little note saying, "here, download this prefab for NS like you can for every other popular HL mod.") + = dead gorge

LeMort, the point of my reply is that you do not need and should not use the tech release to map for NS. The tech release was a pre-1.0, stripped down release of NS that gave mappers the bare essentials they needed to test maps. It is less than 1.0 (or 1.04) in every way.

There are no NS prefabs. Any models in the NS maps were made by the mappers, or by request for the mappers, on an individual basis (and you should likely ask permission before using any of them). You're welcome to make some of your own.

Well... I had the same trouble finding it when I wanted it. I searched through google, yahoo.... etc. Then ChromeAngel(I think) gave me a link. It was a while ago and I don't have the link any more, but if u can find me an FTP server to upload it to I'd be more than happy to send it.

I don't think Coil got through to you: The Tech Release version of NS is discarded and no longer useful. If you try to create maps in it they will not run properly in NS 1.0. It's not easily available for download for a reason - it's a dead, unsupported, unuseable product. You have everything you need in the NS 1.0 release. Do not use the NSTR2.

I find it very useful, I can only get my particle system for my maps to view in it for instance. It usually f*c*s up in NS v1.04 - So I compile my map with particle effects using NSTR 2.0 - Also I like the cool logo when you take a screenshot.
