It's a great great movie. Fast action, wonderful sound and decent plot. My only complaint is that Natalie Portman (wooo arf arf arf) deserves more than Christensen. They have absolutely no chemistry.
I've just seen Episode 2 (curse those different realease dates), and am very happy. Why? Cause I love tearing bad movies to shreds!
Now, before everyone spits at me, I've seen all the good scenes - Yodas fight, the Fetts, the incredible eyes candy - it's all there; so why oh why didn't they find some at least half-decent writer to glue it together?
It may be that the translation made a lot of matters worse, but the scenes between Amidala and Anakin are some of the worst 'romantic' moments in recent history: no character development, wooden dialogues, bad acting, especially on the side of our soon-to-be Sith, ridiculously over-beautiful scenery... I'd better stop or I'll run out of negative modifiers. Many action sequences were simply not state of the art. Take the flight through the aseroid belt and compare it to the very similiar scene in The Empire Strikes Back and you'll know what I mean.
A thing most of you won't have to endure is the horrid German dub: Lightsabers became 'laserswords', 50% of the names were wrong pronounced, the words weren't synchronized to the lip movement (what isn't very difficult as German and English aren't very different); I got the impression that this was a rough edit that slipped past quality control while they played JK2.
All in all, Episode 2 is by far better than The Phantom Menace. On the other hand - Tomb Raider was better than The Phantom Menace. I really hope that Lucas will be able to take the positive aspects of this movie and create something better with Episode 3; this film however did in no way live up to my expectations, no matter how low they already were.

I totally agree with Nemesis Zero. And don't feel left out about the dubbing, they didnt even lip-sync Yoda correctly in the English version.
And the first person who can pull a woman starting with the line: "I don't like sand" gets a present from me.
