I swear i saw two different skins...
In the NS screenshots I saw on my NS screensaver (thanks, by the way. It scared the poop out of my roomates when Tiny popped on the screen while they were playing Resident Evil ) I noticed that there were two different Sentry Turret skins. One looked like a big nasty cannon on a low-set tripod, and the other looked like a rather inaccurate yet deadly chaingun. So... umm... is there a difference in how they perform in the game? And what do they each do?

The chainly thing is a normal turret. The other, low-set model is a kickin siege cannon. Both are placed by the commander and "built" by the rest of the marines. The siege cannons are essentially... really, big guns. The normal turret is a less powerful, yet still nasty gun.

Yes, Ken has it all right. There are two really cool turrets there. The little, multi-purpose sentry turret, and the awesome, über-cool siege turret. Yummy.

So somewhat like the difference in lethality of TFC's levels 2 and 3 turrets...?

I think I once saw something about the siege turret being especially useful for bombing hive.

    Both can be pretty lethal.

They operate pretty differently. The Siege Cannon fires slowly, but with massive splash damage and has a minimum range (so you can get in close on it and not be hit). The Sentry Turret fires like a machine gun, with much less damage at a point target.

Can an individual Marine man either of these bad boys and direct their fire, or are they strictly auto guns?

I'll field this one. Now that I've hit 50 posts I'm knowledgeable enough. : )

There was a post that said a little while back that there would be no mannable turrets I assume that this holds true now as well.

I'm NOT a big fan of mannable turrets on the Half-Life engine, especially in multiplayer. They turn way too slow and are too hard to aim with. If it's hard to hit someone with a machinegun in Counterstrike, imagine how tough it'd be to tag an alien with one!

it takes a little training to fire fixed machine guns

Reaver is correct. No mannable turrets. The reason for this is that the team wants the marines to be working together and advancing, not sitting alone on a turret camping out.

Yeah thats what gonna make NS rock... turrets... it saves man power for one thing... but just to question wouldn't it be a little uneven since the smaller turret has extremly accurate range... I mean it'd be hard to escape it.
