annoying...
If I am in a game, and tap the windows key on purpose or by accident, my desktop comes up in 1024 x 768 (I normally run in 1280 x 1024 on the desktop) and freezes for about 45 seconds, accessing the HD like mad, then it comes back to normal resolution.
If I get back into HL and then tap the windows key a second time, it works fine and brings up the desktop instantly.
Any idea what would cause this?
SPECS:
Celeron 1200
768 RAM
32 meg Geforce2 MX 400

exept for the celeron part
well my expierience on that kinda "lag's" is that they suck, get you stressed(as well as your HDU), and that thjere are some simple ways to solve this
1. you can disable your windows key for your half life and/or mods
2. you can try swithing to software/opengl mode (assuming that you are using direct3d) the wait time shouldnt be as long than anymore, and the drivers arnt loaded into your hdu anymore ( well maybe, but the system is going for its ram then )
3. get tweaking
4. dunno much about celeron, only that it stinks ( low lvl 1 and low lvl 2 cashe ) maybe ( correct me if this is stupid ) the celeron processor is asking the drivers on the hdu instead of the ram
5. if none of the above works i strongly reccomend a new/fresh install of your OS, or at least use some system recovery/system upgrade utilities ( tweakui, regcleaner, speeddisk/defragmentation and maybe norton system optimalization, however, if it is your software to stress your hdu it is very unlikely to filter it out whith a program like that)
i hope this helps
Press Escape, and then Resume Game.
And the Celery 1.2 is better then my old P III 700, so SUYF
