Good Commanders?

BlehBleh Join Date: 2003-02-09 Member: 13305Members

Who would you say commands well?
I usually hop around bigger public (and some clan) servers and most of the time I play on the marine side. I notice quite a bit of players refuse to command unless no one volunteers early enough in the game, and then someone is forced to command unwillingly. But who are the good commanders, the ones who stand out to you? Interested in gathering player names and some feedback, would be cool to see who some of the better commanders are thay play. Its an open topic, feel free to draw any names & shoot opinions.

For example, the other night I was playing and I gotta say our commander was damn-good. Made sure every marine was doing what they were supposed to, fast at dropping ammo/health on players, kept building/upgrading (no spare resources). I think it was :3am:Solace or something close to that, but hella good commander.

He commands like, to quote JediYoshi, a swiss army knife. Really, he's quite good.

Well, I know Flatline is a fun comm to play with, and plenty of the other forum goers are pretty good, too. I don't like comming that much, but I'll comm on bast if no one else wants to; I won't comm any other map.

    Thanks Narfwak!

Bleh, there's a rather old thread floating around this board somewhere that has a list of everyone's favorite commanders. I'll try and dig around for you.

Blahman commands a lot on our server and he's pretty darn good. Us3r is a good comm, but he yells a lot and makes me want to cry, so don't count him as a good comm.

    Erm... Yep.

Yells a lot? I can rarely hear him over all the med-pack spawning sounds.

I play on Coronas. The best comms I've seen there are BananaFodder and FiRe.

I'm not that bad of a comm, but I usually resort to typing long, incoherent insults in teamsay if people don't listen to me. Kinda detracts from my attention span

Funny then. That's 50% of what gets comms ON my good list.

The other 50% is the 'threats' side of the process....

Good marines dont need to be bribed.

Therefore it can be assumed that newbie marines would ask for bribes from the commander. Therefore the more res the commander wastes on newbie marines instead of securing a hive,RT or somesort, the more time the aliens have to win.

True - But I rarely seem to find myself on a team full of 'good' marines.

i dont really play on many servers, just my clan server usually, so i dont see many good comms around.

The best comms i have seen in a game are 2 from my own clan - RabbitCatcher and Dexter.

There are a few more that stick out in my mind, but i'll be dammed if i can remember there names

Fujiwara Tofu SelleR & Newt both rock in my opinion... generally found on the Australian servers (primarily Internode).

c|E Recite is a pretty good commander. He makes you feel important and he knows what he's doing. He pulled off several 2 hive lockdowns with relocation/PG and just plain PG. In 1.04, that is nothing short of amazing because we were against some REALLY good alien players (some other c|E members and at least one eve member)

im 1337 com, i encourage rambos, and everyone to run in randome directions.. When the base is under attack, i hop out, 99% die and then we loose, my marines dont mind though, because they know the reason i didnt upgrade anything or build anyhting was because i was saving for a hive.
