All In Wonder Or 9700 Pro Regular?

<div class="IPBDescription">Help please</div> Curious, from what I can gather at least, there's virtually no difference between the radeon 9700 pro and the radeon 9700 pro all in wonder, although I might've overlooked something.

All I'm going to be using my comp for is gaming, nothing fancy.

Any reason why I'd want to choose one over the other, or are they virtually identical for all intensive purposes?

Go Pro. All in wonder is what it says: An all in wonder. It does everything: you just want gaming. Don't need TV compatibility or whatever.

neither ati has the worst drivers ive ever used. say no to ati, they make a good card but the drivers are what make the display and acceleration count. go Nvidia.

LoL, sponsoring a company is nice and all, but you have to at least back up your claims. Here's an article for you.

While I've hated ATI long long before 3D cards were ever even a dream in 3Dfx's pants, I must admit the 9700 Pro is a damn good card.

The all-in-wonder just has extra things in addition to being a 9700 pro. things like a tv tuner or maybe a remote or whatever it has. perhaps maybe not a tv tuner but video capture. Just extra spiffy stuff that you may or may not want. It'll run you more money for these extra features of course, but if you think you'll want them, its better to go w/ that then.

Since the GF FX is crap, I'd say that if you are gonna buy a card that's the absolute fastest, go for the 9700 Pro. If you have any nVidia brand loyalty (like I do, as I HATE ati) then go for a gf4 ti4200 for price, 4600 for performance, 4400 for value.

What the hell is that about? ATI has great drivers. I have a Radeon 7500 with the Catilist 3.1 drivers the same drivers that the 9700 uses. I once had a Nvidia Riva card a few years ago, and when I tried to update it with new drivers they were acctuly worse then what I had before. Also there are diffierent drivers for each Nivida card, so they stoped supporing there RIVA and GeForce 1 cards, Unlike the all powerfull ATI!

You might want to hold off until this spring DOOM, that’s when GeForce 5 comes out. I personal won’t be buying it Nvidia has screwed me over one to many a time, but it will be a damn fine piece of equipment.

is the geforce5 going to be anything special or just the same old crap with a little overclocking?

As it is right now, the Geforce FX barely outperforms the radeon 9700 pro, and in certain benchmark tests, the radeon outperforms it by a small margin (which is tremendously disappointing, given the FX's delayed release time.) We can only hope this has to do with the preliminary drivers for the FX, although at this point its looking kind of doubtful.

yeah right. That's why Windows XP has been out for over a year and they STILL don't have final (non-beta, works w/o crapping out) drivers for my TV tuner...

That is why I didn't buy XP. I waited for a few months, heard what people have said about it and decided not to get. I have ME. My 7500 works great, all I had to do was plug it in and install the drivers.

Dear God man, ME? Ask any tech support guy, you wanna go back to win98SE before using ME dude....
I cant even count the number of times i've had to use the old 'Its a Virus' excuse so they'll let me reformat and reinstall.

    just some friendly advice...

Yeh, it was a pain in the beginning, but once you download all the necessary updates it works great. I haven't had any major problems with it for almost a year and a half now.

Glad to hear it, maybe I finally have a solution for them other than "Its a virus, here, let me give you a free upgrade to winXP pro" cause I really don't like winXP....

There's a reason there are 2 very different views on this. Before Catalyst 3.0, ATi's drivers sucked the big one. The 3 series Catalysts are a big turnaround for ATi.

Dewm: I'll trade you a Hauppage WinTV pro for that ATi, mine doesn't like my mobo
