A Note To Marines:

Unless you have HA/JP or some sort of higher gun(SG, HMG, GL), You are not worth 2-4 RPs unless you're defending something(ie: a hive or critical location), just open the console and type /kill or bind x kill.

Spamming the Com that you need health doesn't do anything to help the game.

I absolutely agree. For example, a marine that has infiltrated a hive location, and is standing by to build a phase gate so others can join him. It would be a real shame if a couple of lurk spikes or a skulk parasite killed him because he was down to 6 HPs and the Comm wouldn't heal him.

The Comm has to use his head. Also, health is a way of rewarding guys who are doing what they are told. It makes them feel like the comm cares about them. If the comm treats team players and rambos the same, how does that encourage marines to be one rather than the other?

Correct about spamming voice the aliens can hear! So you give away your position and that your injured.

But it has its uses. Sometimes you can lead marines with it. The just love the flashy lights.

Personally, I take it one step further. Not only should you not ask for health, you should not ask for weapons either. The comm should give you the stuff he thinks you need, in accordance with his plan. If he wants to do a HMG rush, he'll give you the HMGs. Otherwise, shut up and get on with it.

One exception: you have to ask for ammo, because the comm doesn't know whether or not you need it.

On the other hand, when you are in a key location, you should not have to ask for health. A good comm will see your red circle, and drop it without being asked.

when i started to comm a long time ago i used to never give helth packs if you were in base, you could kill yourself, wait a little bit and spwan full helth and armor

BUT people have something aginst killing them selfs and will waste 5 minutes at the armory saying: "I NEED A HEALTH PACK NOW I AM AT THE BASE RIGHT HERE!!!11 NEXT TO YOUR CHAIR!!!11 I WILL NOT LEAVE BASE UNTIL YOU GIVE ME A HEALTH PACK OMG N00B COMM EJECT"

so i just give in and let them have their way..... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

When playing marine I will /kill if I have been parasited(Unless I'm guarding the base, and even then sometimes I'll /kill if it's dead[no action]), if I'm low on health(Unless I have something special Weapon/Armour, or Defending something).

I actually ask for Armories instead of Ammo if I'm defending a hive.

The perk of spamming ammo is that it will fill up your clip and thus provide your HMG/HAs with constant fire. Somebody flame me if I got that wrong.

One important thing to consider when deciding whether or not to type /kill is how many people are waiting in the spawn cue. If you have one IP and half your team is waiting to spawn and you get an itsy bitsy parasite, waiting to kill yourself might be a wise idea. I agree that too many people expect health packs, but its important to consider the whoel situation.

*Flame* - yea, you got it wrong. I think it used to be that way back in 1.0 though.
