"go Through Phase Gate Now!"

<div class="IPBDescription">You hear it, but what does it mean...</div> Apparently some people have gaps in their understanding of the english language. So I'm here to translate a phrase that gets used a lot in NS but nobody can seem to grasp the meaning.

<b>"Go through Phase Gate NOW!"</b>

When your commander or a fellow marine says, <b>"Go through Phase Gate NOW!"</b> you go <b><i>directly</i></b> to the pretty round, green machine with what looks like glowing fairy dust floating up from the center. Go up to this "Phase Gate" and press <USE>. Don't be afraid now, the fairy dust won't hurt you it's good fairy dust not the evil kind.

Now, there seems to be people who understand this concept but for whatever reason they didn't hear or don't understand the meaning of '<b>NOW</b>'.

'<b>NOW</b>' is really the <i>vital</i> part of the phrase.

If the commander wanted you to, "Get 250 rounds of LMG ammo, 30 rounds pistol ammo, chat with your buddies, call your mom, make yourself some toast, and then go through Phase Gate." he probably wouldn't have used the word '<b>NOW</b>'.

If they did use '<b>NOW</b>' they basically means, "As <i>quickly</i> as possible." <b>Quick</b>, being the imperative word.

I know what some of you are thinking, "Fantasmo, what if I just spawned and I only have 100 rounds of LMG ammo and 20 rounds of pistol ammo?" Well my friend, you got to look at the big picture.

Phase Gates are used for important areas of the map. Most of the time the places where the phase leads can make or break a game. If, for whatever reason, your commander want you to "Go thought Phase Gate NOW!." there is probably a danger of losing this very important place. <b>These places are <i>so important</i> even if you had nothing but a ball of string and a broken pencil you should go in fighting with all your might to try stop those nasty aliens.</b> Let me assure you, 2 clips of LMG and Pistol rounds is more then enough when the speaker chooses to use the word, '<b>NOW</b>'.

Remember that neat little trick I told you where you press <USE> on the Fairy Dust Machine and then all of a sudden you appeared where your commander wanted you? You can press <USE> on it and you'll go back to where the ammo is so you can get more ammo whenever you want!

I know this might be a lot to take in at once, it's okay. But next time you hear, <b>"Go through Phase Gate NOW!"</b> you'll now know what to do. Follow those instruction and you be contributing to the most important weapon in NS, <b>Team Coorindation</b>.

It's fun being part of team isn't it? You win lots.

I think you might wanna add that in the event of multiple phase gates, keep going until you hear shots/aliens and fight at the location. Also, when phasing through, at least check out the location, if you see a guy building, or an unbuilt structure, help out! It's so annoying when I'm somewhere putting up turrets and I see somebody phase in and straight back out again

A scarily accurate portrayal of people's n00bishness. Another favourite is screaming "Base NOW!" and people wander off to find a hive...

    "Base. Now."
    "BASE ****!"
"Get your **** to base NOW!"
"We've lost our IP! Get back here NOW!"

How many times have i been half way across the map, successfully killing marines, in a great spot to siege thier hive, and suddenly comm yells 'EVERYONE BACK TO BASE NOWWWWWWWWW!"!!!!!"

So i trudge all the way across the map, knowing by the time i get back there it will be too late to do anything about it and we will have lost our chance at sieging thier hive.

I get to our base, and lo and behold our base is fine / completely destroyed. either way my coming back was completely useless.

So when you (an experienced commander) yells EVERYONE BACK TO BASE, bear in mind that some of us (or just me) are tired of noob comms that tell EVERYONE to come back, when they really mean EVERYONE WHO CAN GET BACK WITHIN ABOUT 30 SECONDS, and there is no way of telling that you are not one of those <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

P.s. if its a phase gate, of course i will rush through (in fact if theres no panic on, every time i spawn i check each phase gate to see if they are all ok)

Another nice thing to do is to check your base's phasegate if your in an outpost. If it's gone down and your comm is not screaming for help, take it as a sign that your comm just can't ask for help cause he's busy (rebuilding, holding off attackers) and try to get yer arse back to the base ASAP.

Right on, Fantasmo! I think some people need to have this drilled into their heads or taped on their monitors so they don't forget.
