The HMG is a totally FICTIONAL model developed by the NS Team. You can compare it up and down, but all your gonna get is a lot of hearsy and conjecture.

Put it this way, basically every gun ever developed is based upon the same principle of pulling a trigger, bullet comes out and hurts stuff. It is that simple, it's a heavy machine gun. It's not a GHIA M359-sdX, it's a gun. It's bigger. It fires bullets faster. It hurts more.

This has been discussed a billion times.

The creator of the Grenade Launcher model has said without shame that he DOES, in fact, take inspiration from existing models. That was part of the point - he wanted these to be futuristic improvements of existing weapon technology. He has also outright stated that the Grenade Launcher borrowed from the OICW.
