Can I Disable Lamps That Flicker Like Strobe?

<div class="IPBDescription">Flickering lamps reduce fps a lot ...</div> My friend has a problem when playing NS. He has decent FPS until one flikering lamp appears. When a flickering strobe lamp is in view fps drops below ten.

So first he has like 40 fps but when these lamps appear, fps is reduced to 4-8 and game becames unplayable. So <b>can I tweak flickering lights off?</b>

Can I edit (or can he edit) a file to turn off blinking lamps?

His system is Linux and he has new drivers etc. I think it is in game problem or some conflict with Linux stuff. I guess there will be dozen ppl asking spesifics about his hardware but that isn't issue since CS, DOD and other HL mods work just fine.

Try r_dynamic 0 (it disables the phase gate light)

Thank you for advice but it didn't help.

Problem is very easy to spot at ns_hera. When joining in game there is flickering light at "join aliens" entrance. This light and its brothers are the pain.

Is there any other advice, please?

r_dynamic doesn't work, it's locked.

I'm afraid I know of no way to disable the dynamic lighting, which is a tad annoying as it kills my fps as well..

I think it would need to be re-coded..
