Here's the minimap of my little map project ... ns_insertnamehere (maybe ns_ibis)
I know its not finished (the lower-right area/hive is only temporary) but i still need feedback on the existing layout.
Some notes:
- The "underwater passage" cant be seen by the commander, he can only see the top room but its intended like that (comm cant do anything in water anyway, plus he can siege from the "top room"). That underwater passage leads to the "cooling system" hive (there is another way, but it takes more time, should encourage marines to go swim). From soldier view, if anyone remember the part in the movie alien 4 when they have to swim, get eaten and end in a alien trap with eggs and stuff, then you have an idea.
- The "weldable laserfield" is a red-colored laser door that gives quick access to a second res node for marines. Only way to open it is to repair the button with a welder, if the commander can spare one <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> .
- Vents are not implemented yet but i plan to add LOTS of them.

cuz aliens be at disadvantage if they start there and the next hive is uber far away, or that the top two hives are so close they can defend one passage way and defend both...

2 wide entrances were marines can build and walk regulary.
one lower vent (for crounchimg marines) and/or one higher vent (jetpacks only) and/or one weld-to-open (welt-to-close on CC) entrance.
-> 2,5 to 3 entrances for each hive and the cc.

Ego: That part of the map is only temporary <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> It's a placeholder hive, so i can put 3 hives up while testing the map and check if onos can walk everywhere, etc. I know it's confusing to post a unfinished layout but i wanted to know if there wasnt any big issues with the existing part of the layout.
Ollj: All hives will have 2 big entrances where the marines can walk/build normally, but maybe with the exeption of the cooling system hive (the one with underwater passage). In this one i planned to have one normal passage, one passage underwater, and 2 vents (one low vent, one JP vent). BUT i think you'r right so maybe i'll add a weld-to-open road or something (i don't want marines to be able to go too quick in that hive). CC room will have at least one weld-to-close low vent, and probably another normal vent that come from the ceiling (for the "it's raining skulks!" effect).
Sevendashseven: I'll keep that in mind. It's really a pain to kill a marine that is crouching in a vent as a skulk with the hitboxes issue.

-fool- : At the moment this is a room with big computers, let's say it's the data processing unit for the nanotech in the station or something.
