<div class="IPBDescription">During 30 minute thing on Mod making</div> A few hours ago I was watching a thing on discovery channel, they were doing a big thing on mod making. They were mainly interviewing the leader of X-Mod, a 17 year old. They talked alot about what a mod is, and how a mod is made, They showed alot of stuff from Worldcraft, Milkshape 3D, and showed footage from various mods and talked about them a bit. One of the things they mentioned that I perticularily liked was how they talked about the social factor. To quote one of the hosts as best I can (The guy with the beard):
"You know, whenever you think of teenagers in the basement on the computer you just imagine this kid sitting there staring at a screen, not talking to anyone, but it is actually quite a social experience. They work and cooperate with others alot, it's rather good for them"
They had focused alot on what even just a teenager can do. They had said the 17 year old that they were interviewing leads a team of 21 people of many ages over the internet. They showed footage from many mods, alot from X-Mod, and footage from DoD and Natural Selection. The NS footage was a couple of marines building a base on Hera. They said NS was a game where "A group of people work together on a team to defeat the other team in a futuristic sci-fi enviroment, where one person coordinates assaults and gives orders to his teammates." They said that NS is a game that more people should be playing.

Don't forget Marlbaro has already secured the rights to a green colored pack once they legalize pot, as well as free medical coverage and a much lower homicide rate, but then you'd have to put up with ppl speaking french. Man thats a tough choice.
Oh sure I could pay for cable TV, with so many more channels (around 40) of which I'd consider watching around 3. Pity, becuase I would have liked to have seen that TV peice on NS. Down here they havn't brought in an R rating for games yet because they believe they're aimed at children. Shows you what the people in power think of computer gaming. Yet the government's all gung-ho to attack Iraq...

Well it's because nothing special happens here, and when we get on tv it's a special moment, and we are pretty unknow. 50% of americans would say that Nokia is from Japan. But we do have the worlds best chewing-gum, and that's something the Finns should be proud of.

Well the show is right that NS needs more skilled players, but it is a new mod. When you think about it, who started playing CS (sorry for mentioning) from the first release? Okabore... It was actually a good thing you guys invaded us back then, Swedes were good masters in those times. You just had to let Russia conquer us from you. Tsk, tsk. (Although I'm not sure at all that it was such a bad thing, since in the end it gave us more reasons to strive for independece.)

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I live on the outskirts of the "unsettled wilderness" area and I can tell you it isn't a joke. For example, it is instructed that women and children shouldn't leave their homes when it's dark (that is, 24/7 during the winter) because of bears and packs of wolves that roam the area. Carrying a rifle with you isn't such a bad idea out there.

This is why Finland will be the first country in the world to make phase gates a common mean of transportation, exept they will be called Nokia gates.
