I think the lighting could do with some more variation, the spot lights by the central column are good but the lights around the wall could do with being changed, it looks pretty bland. Maybe try placing the occasional light rather than having them trace the entire room.
As for the lighting - I'm trying to fix it <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
*my 200th post!*
Regardless...
While I really like the design of the room, I bet that central pillar could use some widening. Along with some slanted brush type details, etc... Just to make it more "massive" feeling. I've always felt that hive rooms should have a somewhat majestic feel to them.
Some colored lighting might also be beneficial.
*rant* (nothing specific against your hive room Hanz... it's just that I realized what was bugging me)
Something about 90% of the hive shots that I've seen sofar isn't jiving with me.... the infestation/creep texture begs to be organic: moving, no sharp edges/rounded, slimy, smelly... yet most of the mappers just *SPLAT!* smack it on a flat wall- what would REALLY make a hive look alive is if the infestation were to bulge in a natural/organic looking manner... uhh... anyone seen gremlins/gremlins2? remember when the green buggers get allwet and there's these pulsating THINGS on their backs? (before they all get killed...) well... I'm thinking if you could somehow make that back an entire wall... that's what I think a hive wall should look like.
