READ THE MANUAL!!!
Ok guys please PLEASE learn how to play!!! im tired of being in a game with NO ONE who knows what they are doing...If you want to d/l this game please read the manual. I ask you this as a fellow player!! Im not being mean and i understand it is difficult but it is easy if u at least read the stuff after you download the game.

I was in a server where none of the aliens new the hive sight. Thats LAME its so easy to catch on to but i see how it can be hard. so just read the manual or...something

Flame away...

move off the newbie server to a more experienced server.

that way you dont have to stress over nubs

In response to the first post, yes, read it. It's worth noting that the manual is exact for the pre-1.0 release. There have been a lot of changes. The best way to learn all about NS is to get on a server and play.

In response to the second post, there are no "newbie servers", just servers that contain newbies.

When I first got NS since I was bored I did read the manual. But its HUGE! Like reading a flight manual. I think it should be narrowed down a little.

the manual is not that needed, however!
the slide show is very important, that actualy contains most of the stuff that needs knowing

The biggest problem for new players is that the maps are difficult to learn . Those who play mostly NS its easy for them . But new people are desoriented . Being marine sometimes and the commander says let's go to the unnamed hive , new players don't know where it is :\ . It takes time to learn.

It certainly can't hurt to read the manual though. I hate being a fade ready to just storm in and kick the crap out of the marines, their children and grandparents, and have this come up.

"Okay, I'm leading off. Umbra me."

"What? Why? Umbra doesn't do damage!"

Then the lerk flies off by himself to chomp marine head only to end up as a trophy in their new base. -_-

Also if you are a noob to the game please don't go Commander or gorg untill you know the map's and how to play the games.

I thought the slide show was the manual!

Oh dear, I must have been a right pain first couple of games. To be honest though I just joined big games and kept my head down. I do remember as a newb joining a realy busy game were we(marines) were heading for victory when the comm left. It was Bast but felt like a maze at the time. I found my way from Main Aft Junction to the Comm via Feedwater! When I got there more by accident than anything else they were still screaming for a comm, so I chirped "well I could get in the comm but...". "GET IN! GET IN! WE NEED A COMM! came the response from multiple people cutting me off mid voice. I got in and looked at the controls, having never played rts let alone commed NS I was well out of my league. So I said "right, I'm in the chair no what do I do?" "GET OUT! GET OUT!" came the even more eager response. Lol

    To all newbs:
We were all there, dont let anyone tell you different. Read the slide show and let people know that your new blood when you join the game. Follow team members around for a while to see what they do. Ask questions if you need to but do so when the action luls and ask once then listen for a reply, type it and voice you question if you like but do so once. Failing that, mail me and if I can get 8+ peeps together I'll run a training server this weekend!
