How Do Marines Win Ns_missilecommand_final3?

I've played the map several times now and never won once as marines. In the topic announcing the release of the map it's even said to be harder for the marines to win (harder then in final2). "it's a bit harder for the marines to find the trick to win"
Now what the heck does that mean? What trick?

And: Is it possible that Jetpacking is harder on old/bad computers? I hardly EVER get to the top (hence I'm usually welding base or shooting skulks on middle floor)

    Well, I can't say anything about the first part of your post, because I've never even heard of a map called misslecommand, let alone played on it.

    As for the JP question - yes, it's harder on old machines. Right now, JPs ease-of-use is related to framerate. Higher framerate = better JP. It's getting fixed though.

    you can get the map on my site - and its in my map rotation. Its a 'novelty map' and very hard for marines to win - I haven't figured th trick but I guess itsa obtaining jp/hmg as early as possible. Normally the key to a marines win is working together and following orders, provided your comm is competant that gives you a 75% chance of success (percentage is a wild guess NOT based on any kind of fact.)

    I won this map as comm the other day. Just like they say, get jetpacks as fast as possible. Even if you dont have heavy weapons yet, fly up there and try to kill the gorge. Just keep them busy. Then you can get heavy weapons and upgrades left and right.

    me: Don't give me Jp, I'm no good with it
    marine: I'm the bomb with a jp!!
    me: me 2.. literally... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    as for the "magic" trick, the early jp thing sounds logical.... well in the meanwhile I'll play as an alien <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I've played in misslecommand. I heard someone mention a trick about the ladders. Didn't hear the whole thing, though. It's something like you have to look down and walk backwards into the ladder or something and you can get to the top level without a jp.

    I've heard of that too, but haven't seen it yet.

    I played every version of misslecommand as it evolved. Misslecommand_final3 LOOKS harder for the marines, but its really just about the same. In my most recent session, my alien team got bashed 7 times in a row (with significant player turnover between matches -- the team's skill was a factor, but not a big one) on that map. Generally, if the marines build in the center of the map, then spread defenders out to the corners and walls, this map is VERY difficult for aliens. There is little to nothing for skulks to hide behind, and even a simultaneous, well-organized rush of 7 (seven!) skulks wasn't enough to break the marine defense. Just keep those pistols out and make sure there's a good distance between you and your teammates. Its fish in a barrel. (PS -- the only way to win is by getting jetpacks. Keep in mind, the marines can lose 1, maybe 2 critical structures and still have JPs before the aliens get a 2nd hive up, whether using a 1 OR 2 gorge scheme.)

    ha well then I know my team's problem: me, I'm skilled (let's just say I am.... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> ) but my jetpacks wont get me to the top! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
