Ideas On Perfect Defense?

It happens all the time on this map but i forgot its name...all i know is that it stats on the cockpit of a ship

ME and my team just lost the third hive. I got a healthy sum of res in the bank and I now know that onos is gonna rush mybase, and you got every thing pumped up to max ugrade. We know we dont stand much of a chance so I decide to just defend base as much as possible. There is only 1 entrance to the base. SO we just stand there

WHat to do? I have no clue

    Number 1: Your in Nancy.
    Number 2: Nancy has the best vent system ever, you can get to all three hives fairly easily through them.
    Number 3: No defense is gonna stop hive 3 aliens.

    Conclusion: With all that res, forget about defending, equip all your marines with JPs/HMGs and hope for the best. Why go for a long drawn out defeat when you can go for a quick win ?

    If you really want a boring 1/2 hour.....

    Multiple TFs, sieges, and turret farms. Hand out kit as you like but the essenial thing is 2 HA/GL/Welder. Build an armoury at your choke point of choice and they can weld each other and keep a never ending 'nade spam up.

    It's pretty hopeless at this point, but I would just drop some nade launchers in base and continually spam the entrance.

    Equip 2 or 3 guys with JPs/HMGs, and send them through the vents to take out hives. 2 full HMG clips will take down a hive, so if they coordinate their effort, 2 hives can go down almost simultaneously.

    Hmm if you wan't to extend the game and be lame lots and lots of turrets. On a lan game I set-up about 15 turrets and they take down onos pretty quickly. Put them in hard to acid rocket places and you'll really hurt the aliens scores if they assualt, but they'll probably just spore you to death after a bit.

    Yep prity hope less, you might want to try to upgrade armor and then send your best men out with JP's and welders to try to take out a hive but other than that your screwed. I've herd of teams coming back form this if you have the resourses arm 4 people with HA 3 HMG's and 1 GL and you might have a chance but not much on one.

    The best defense is a good offense, or so the saying goes. Seeing as you just lost all hives, looks like you're going to lose.

    on a ms with a small entrance (like ns_nancy..) you can do the lame o' wall of cc's. drop gls and put an armory nearby. lob nades through whatever cracks there are in the wall. turrets/hmgs/shotguns optional for the things that pass (your team of marines in the fortress should take care of them). have the res to keep up the wall and you should hold up. but this stuff is lame, you should drop lots of high tech stuff and let your <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> go down shooting like madmen.

    heh I've often wondered just what the heck to do in such situations myself.

    Of course you can turret grenade etc but nothing that will win unless lucky jetpak+hmg and even if you take out a hive with that setup your base is likely doomed.

    What I've seen that is very effective in prolonging the game is to spam infantry portals. You'll need enough people on marines of course but with like 15 portals and maybe turrets or some sort of delaying action aliens will be hard pressed to stop marine spawning and I think the marines can spawn back all at once, or at least never stop spawning.

    Aliens will win no matter what however unless extremely stupid or you are very lucky.

    we once managed to relocate 3 times. Not on this map, but another. First we were slowly losing our main base, so we set up in some obscure place and built a base, then that started to go down so we all used emergency beacon back to our original base and set up. Almost got a 4th com chair up but then the guy died. Anyways, your other option on that map is to build ips outside of the map by building through the glass cockpit windows. Or if its hera you can teleport through the door onto the outside landing pad.

    Not that it was in nancy or anything but I was commanding in Tanith and we got pushed back to Waste Handling and we held out for 2 hours against a full team of aliens.
