Massive Image Warning.
I can't stop playing it. If there's a game that screams for a port of NS, it's this. Sucks that there's no multiplayer right now though.
Positively beautiful. Sorry about the image size, but the only utility I have installed right now as far as image compression goes is BMP2PNG. These'll be really high quality though, for those who have to patience to wait for them to load.
You actually get to lay turrets and lazer barriers in semi-strategy parts of the game. I used an infinite ammo code for this shot. Mmm...turret spam.

God, I hope multiplayer comes in one of Unreal 2's patches. Unreal 2k3 can't hold a candle to most of this (They do use the same engine, but Unreal 2's build is newer and has many more features, just like Ut2k3's engine is a more advanced build of the unreal engine used in Splinter Cell)
http://home1.gte.net/res0nzkt/images/unreal4.png
Also, damn this board and it's lack of PNG support. Bah.

As far as the engine, U2 uses the UT2003 engine. Same engine. Its just that when you make a single player game you can put more detail into things as it doesn't matter if you are running 30fps (which would kill you in multiplayer).
And for pete's sake, use JPEGs :P
PNG is superior to JPEG. If you compress them properly, they're better quality with lower file size.
The displaying of PNG files is BROWSER SPECIFIC and has nothing to do with this board.
would struggle.
Actually Deuss Ex had multiplayer the entire time, they just never activated it when released. Players asked about multiplayer and they released the patch to activate it.
If they've gone the same line as Ut2003, then you should be able to tone the games graphics down really really well, so you may be able to play it
I remember Epic saying that multiplayer for Unreal 2 hasn't been totally ruled out.

You didn't actually read my post did you? I said they use the same engine but Unreal 2 is based off of a newer build of the new unreal tech though, meaning it has more features. And 30FPS doesn't kill you in multiplayer, lots of people right now are probably playing NS at 30FPS.

PNG is an open graphics format, so it's actually MORE crossplatform than JPEG. It's not browser specific either. Opera and Mozilla can display PNGS.
And people play NS at 30fps? ouch. sucks to be them.
Have you had a serious head injury recently?
Unreal 2 = sub-standard generic FPS
Up until the last level it was a devent FPS, some ok puzzles, some fun guns and all that. Nothing amazing or such. Then... *SPOLIERS* wow, I got mad. You get a one shot kill gun for the whole 6 guys on the level, woop de do, fun! And the only challange is the one jumping "puzzle" which consist of 2 jumps... And the level is supposedly on a time limit, well, its on scripted time limit, hit one room, no matter how long it has been, and it warns you "3 billiob kilimeters till impact with sun". The only actual time limit is the last 30 seconds, and all you have to do is jump down a hallway and win. Now, the ending video, could it be less exciting? I mean, it tells you nothing new at all, a rat with half a brain could of deduced what it said in the end, and the video is a amazing 30 seconds of nothing. And then, it's over, sad ending, sad level, saad game!
I must admit, the ship turning on it's side was neat, but greatly underused, walked down... 2 hallways like that? Whee, could of been so much more fun. And with the one shot gun, at least make it a challange, and have *hordes* of enemies to fend off or such. In short, I found it fun, until the end, and then I got VERY **** off for ruining a decent game. Worth my brothers $80 (his computer couldn't run it ^_^), yes. Worth mine if I had to? nope.
level loads.
Not only did they take a long time, but more often than not the level wasn't even that big to begin with. Several times there was map that consisted of only a few rooms. and one map was actualy just ONE ROOM. one room. for an entire map file. stupid.
So I just beat Unreal 2 today... The ending was really good, it suprised me. Very cinematic, perhaps one of the most cinematic endings in a video game. Just the scene itself but also the camera angles and etc were all really really well done. Which I'm glad for cause some of the earlier cutscenes really suck. :P
And the ending credits are without a doubt the coolest damned ending credits i've ever seen in a game, movie or tv show. EVER. Hot damn they were cool.

I play at 30 FPS and I'm pretty good, thank you very much.
