<div class="IPBDescription">length</div> yo, anyone here think that marines have the advantage from long distance, it seems that marines machine gun is more powerful from long distance from any first stage spit or what ever alian....

is this one thing to have an marines advanage...

    umm...yea, they do have the long range advantage...but...they are supposed to. Skulks can't just run straight at a marine from down a long hallway. You have to adjust your tactics a bit.

    marines might have a long range advantage but skulks are faster, can climb walls, have a more powerful attack, and can parasite to track them, which all adds up to one unbalanced fight in close quarters. marines should lose every time.

    Thats the point, marines have the long range advantage and aliens have close range advantage...

    at long range: marine > skulk
    at short range: marine < skulk

    that's the way it's meant to be.

    Which is why I hate ns_nothing. All extremely long and narrow passages make it a joke to play as marines.

    Depends what you want to do.

    Lerk spikes are the best alien 'sniper weapon' (they're hitscan).

    Acid rockets are also good for mass spamming down long long corridors (like accross the top of viaduct).

    Lerk spores are the best for just wiping out masses of people (theys stack!!!)

    Paralize is the best for killing JPers (weeeee splat)

    Is anything more satisfying than being a cloaked onos on the bridge in viaduct, then parasiting that JP sod that keeps attacking your hive, near the celing (sp?) and watching him plummet to his death to crys of "OMG!!11HAX0R!!!11"?

    I have yet to pull this off, but I was standing next to the onos that did it once.

    Well, is anything more satisfying???

    I can see the problem right there. Of course marines have an advantage at long range. Remove the advantage, get close to them and bite their freaking heads off. The trick is <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=21&t=20333&' target='_blank'>learning to close the distance effectively</a>. Oh, and don't hold down the bite button - press it instead. Trust me on that one <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Thats why Marines should have distance to eachother, so they can at least have that 2-3 seconds to fire on the skulks biting of Marine-Bate Nr.1
