The readyroom

I read the FAQ so i know what it stands for in essence, it's where you can chat with other players before/after a round, people speak of adding monitors or something so you can watch an ongoing battle, well that made wonder, if you can use these monitors to view the mach, you should be able to walk around in the readyroom, you should be able to walk aroudn in the readyroom for you have o be able to chose your race just by walking in the right "portal", i mean that's what i guess people have to do before they begin a round, I just wander if you can walk around will you c other players? And if so what skin would they have, as they are not yet aliesn/marines, is there some sort of neutral skin?

Yeah, when you're in the readyroom, you get to walk around, and you choose the team you want to be on by walking through its "portal." You can also see other players. Their skin will be the skin of the team that they last played on, i.e. if you were a marine in the last game, you'd be a marine in the readyroom. Though, I'm not sure what skin you'll have if its your first game ever.

well that's exactly what i thought, it would be normal if you used your "last skin", but what about teh very first time, will it be just a random generated skin, and why do i get the feeling that there isn't going to be played a lot the very first time, just everybody staring at eachother and admire theris skins, the skins really look promissing look what a good job they did on bob.

Got just one more question bout this commander, he sit in front of a computer and doesn't move, so doesn't that make him very vulnerable? I mean the marines lose 1 marine, being commander, don't they lose another just to protect the commander, or will they just put a lot of turrets near the commander?

the commander "disappears" once he jacks into the command console. the console itself can be attacked by the aliens, however, the commander can build turrets to protect himself and assign marines to protect the console if need be.

There will be some sort of placeholder skin for the first time the game is started. Right now it's just Gordon, but that will most likely change.

The commander console is heavily armored, and when the commander links in, he is considered part of the console. But you're right - it is vulnerable, and should be protected. Even a Lev1 alien can eventually smash it to pieces (it would take some time though), and the Marine team must certainly guard their console and keep it healthy, or risk losing their main advantage and their ability to respawn and reinforce.

I think that it might be nice to have two placeholder skins. One for the alien team and one for the marine team (chosen randomly) These could be something nonCom but interesting to look at anyways, eg a civilian or groundcrew, and for aliens a normal looking thing with no clear weapons.

I think that if there was only one pregame skin, ppl may get the impression that one team is badly outnumbered in the game, or it may have a psychological effect upon which team they choose.

    Just a thought...

I think it should be the HL Scientists, but with their face skins replaced by scanned-in shots of the NS dev team.

I thought NS was going to try and stay away from the 'horror' genre?

    *shudders at ME's suggestion*

Okay, but if someone walks up to me on the street and punches me in the face, I'll know who to blame!
