Any Way To Win Ns_caged

<div class="IPBDescription">if aliens do this?</div> Is there any way to beat aliens if one of their gorgs makes 4 DCs in the vent, then a horde of skulks rush in and lay waste to the base.

marines on the public server always loose to this, either by not doing anything, mooving to one of the totaly horrible alt spawns at sewer or gen, or wasting 70+ res on siege gun and scans, which totaly screw the marine tech system. i presume a HMG rush would work, but on public servers there isnt really a desire to win the game within 2 mins of starting it.

It's absolutly vital early on to seal those weldable vents off near sewer. Even then a skulk can fly across the base and gorge in the vent, causing troubles of no end, but it helps. Caged is a truly harsh map for marines and I think a little too resource poor. But remember this: if a gorge is doing that at the start, even if there's another gorge running around he will be strapped for res. Take advantage of this; playing as alien a guy did exactly that, gorged in the vent, I was the other gorge and I was hurting because he wanted to build in there. We ended up losing because I could never get enough res throughout the early game to get up hive defenses or res positions, and although gorgy in the vent ended up lerking and killing a few guys it didn't stop the marines from expanding, taking generator then ventilation. Skulks running in is harsh, but if you seal that vent off it leaves only one way into the base and you can defend that fairly well with some turrets and a few marines. It's a tough marine map, don't get me wrong, but use the weld points wisely and it becomes friendler. Try going for generator hive as it is easier to defend than the others. Also, try to hold the duel res point, on a res poor map like caged that position is gold.

You make it sound like caged has a dual res point. All I can think of is freight elevator, but the res nodes aren't that close.

    They're very close.

The trick is to hear the gorge building the def chambers, get a GL and then wait some.

THEN you open fire with the GL into the vent, the gorge wastes about 60 ish res and you laugh manically.

I suppose JP might also cut it but personally if the phases are up I'll have HMG's and GL's to hold a location over JP's (without HMGs) any day.
