How fast can you get around?
I was thinking about the speedruns done in TFC to cap the flag in the fastest amount of time possible, and then I thought about doing something similar for NS. The Lerk and the Jetpacker are both get around the map very quickly and take a lot of control and finesse to master, so I figured, why not have speedruns for those?

The procedure is relatively simple:

1) Create a LAN game on the map you want to do your run on, then enter "sv_cheats 1" and "givepoints" however many times needed, then build everything you need to get started. For Aliens, go gorge and make 3 movement chambers, then morph, and for marines, make an IP, Armory, Arms Lab, Prototype Lab, research Jetpacks, and drop a Jetpack. With "sv_cheats 1" all building goes very fast, and you can play without anyone else in the game.
Note from Flayra: With cheats on, you can also just type in: "give item_jetpack" to give yourself a jetpack.
2) Start recording a demo with "record demoname" (It will show up in your Half-Life/ns folder)
3) Touch the marine Command Console. The timer starts when you start off away from it.
4) Touch or fly through all alien hive locations (you can kill them beforehand if that makes it easier).
5) Return to the CC. The clock stops when you touch it again.
6) Stop your demo with "stop" .
7) Take your .dem file in Half-Life/ns , and compress it to a .zip file with a utility like WinRAR. The zipped demo should be about 500 or so KB/minute.
8) Upload it to the internet
9) The obvious "no speed hacks or altered server physics" rule applies.

To play demos, put them in your Half-Life/ns folder, open up NS, then type in console "playdemo demoname" if you want to play demoname.dem .

I did a jetpack run on eclipse (1:03), that is certainly possible to best, because I hit some corners, and hit the ground in quite a few places. Get it at
http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~rickardp/eclip...jetpack_run.zip .

Any standard map is fair game. If enough people submit runs I might just compile them into a video.
