<div class="IPBDescription">Would you spend four minutes watching?</div> Just an extremely crude .gif idea for a 3DsMax-rendered animation I may or may not do:

<b>Natural Selection "Yatta!" music video, using the donce moves from <a href='http://web.mit.edu/patil/www/media/video/yatta.asf' target='_blank'>here</a>.</b>

<a href='http://espclan.netfirms.com/images/lightyatta.gif' target='_blank'>http://espclan.netfirms.com/images/lightyatta.gif</a>

(Would anyone want to see this? I don't want to spend weeks animating if there's no demand.)
Thanks. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Anyone have the high-poly models used for the trailer? At least, they look fairly high-poly, but that could just be the resolution used. It'd actually be pretty fun to do something to music (say, More Human Than Human, Playing With Lightning, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Reckoning) but I'm both too lazy to model it up myself, and would rather not just convert the in-game models which would look kinda junky with the stuff LightWave can do.

Well if you convert the .mdl files into Autodesk 3dS then import them into 3dStudio, it looks great... just the shadows and the way it renders make the in-game models look like high-poly cinematic-quality type stuff...

As for what the HECK that yatta video is, there's an explanation <a href='http://www.penismightier.com/main.php?start=1704' target='_blank'>here</a>.

AFAIK those weren't high poly, just the regular old player models w/ custom animations in max.

I'm sure the scanlines helped out a bit in making it look better. :P

Had a simmilar idea, but to "Mein Henz Brennt" in the background <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Hmm. May have to throw them through MilkShape for a convert, LightWave for smoothing/divide, and TrueSpace to play with some of the points and put 'em back in their proper spots after the smooth screws them over. Unless I can get a handle on LW's finicky Modeller.. that thing is a pain and a half to learn.

Yeah, the scanlines likely helped a lot.. I didn't overly notice them, really, except from the Marines' POV.

If I was going to watch an animation to a scary japanese dance video, I'd rather watch it to the Ultra Relax theme(am I the only one who has ever heard of that particular AMV?)

Well, I've already put most of the ns models through Milkshape into 3d Studio...

The results are fairly decent as you can see <a href='http://espclan.netfirms.com/images/fade.jpg' target='_blank'>here</a>.

And I haven't heard of Ultra Relax. Is it an anime series?

It is an anime series, but the theme song has been used in an AMV which featured dancing EVA characters, and and dancing cosplayers. Hilarious.

where do I learn how to use 3D studio max? I want to make fun animations, and Advanced High Tech Art is no longer offered as a course at school <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    There's always this one:

    <a href='http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/yatta.html' target='_blank'>http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/yatta.html</a>

I think it explains it a lot better.

Hmmm there are innumerable tutorials all over... just seek and you shall find... what I did was go through the tutorials that come with the program. They are quite nice, and cover a variety of topics. After that, just experiment, making small random clips of random small things performing random actions. After 20 or so of these you should be all set ;D
