    Sorry to dig up a topic that basically ended a week ago, but I just downloaded Opera 7.01 today and I'm <b>very</b> impressed. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I used Opera with my ol' P233 many years ago simply because it was <i>much</i> faster than IE on that system. Once I upgraded, I went back to IE and stayed with it.... until now. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Compared to IE, Opera is rediculously fast. It'd usually take about about 4+ seconds when I'd F5 a topics page of these very forums using IE, but in Opera, it's refreshed and ready to go before I can get my fingers back to the home position on the keyboard.

    I downloaded Opera simply because IE was usually being reluctant to actually do anything productive. About half the time I'd try and refresh a page, it'd say no and give me a "this page cannot be found" instead. I've been playing with Opera for a few hours now, and I've never seen it have any trouble loading any page thus far.

    Like I said, I'm very impressed. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I downloaded Opera a while back, but uninstalled it a bit later.

    I was told that it had better security features, faster download times, more customization options - overall a worthwhile download. When I installed and started the program, I was dissapointed. It didn't load any faster for me than Internet Explorer 6 (my current browser). The interface reeked of Netscape for me (which is a program I really dislike). I didn't really care about the security features, because I don't go to pages I don't consider trustworthy. The only thing that really impressed me were the shortcut buttons. However, those aren't exactly all that big of time-savers, as moving the mouse up to the top of the screen isn't really all that difficult!

    On top of that, since Internet Explorer is so ingrained into Windows, I didn't see the point of getting yet another internet browser out of spite, just so that 'evil Microsoft' wouldn't have my patronage. My hard drive space is at a premium, so a program like Opera isn't essential.

    And Mozilla. Heh. I tried that program as well. Perhaps I had an old version, but it looked almost exactly like Netscape. I deleted it almost immediately. I really really don't like Netscape.

    I use IE 6. Everything looks fine, everything is smooth. I also use Ad-Muncher (http://www.admuncher.com) since it's Comprox recommended. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> I love it. If it doesn't block an advertisement, my HOSTS file does.

    EDIT: Oh yeah, I've used Netscape, Mozilla and Opera 5. They all sucked, IMO.

    Mozilla here (at school), Safari or Mozilla at home on the slick-as-hell iMac.

    Their called skins, Mozilla comes with 2 of em, classic (netscapish) and modern (netscape 7 ish) but more are available, either way your distain for netscape would prolly keep you away since its based on some netscape code.

    That's the problem. I have found that Netscape runs slower on my computer than Internet Explorer, and that animations, colors, javascripts, and other graphical objects do not work well with Netscape. I didn't like the layout of the program either.

    And since Mozilla is based on Netscape, it runs just as slow. I thought it had a worse layout than Netscape, as well. It looked too 'amateurish'.

    I don't think Internet Explorer is perfect. However, until I find something better, I'm sticking with it.

    Well, as long as your not dead-set against netscape like proggies, you could try pheonix, its basically mozilla minus everything but the web browser and some speed optimizations, it was mentioned earlier. And BTW, Mozilla uses W3C standards so the only time it doesn't work is when a site has been designed and only tested with IE (wich basically ignores all standards and does what ever the hell it wants to), which is unfortunatly alot of sites <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I just found out the coolest thing <b>ever</b>!! I'm using Opera 7.02, and I was basically just tapping on the left mouse button while listening to music and reading a few forum posts (weird habit, don't ask <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->).

    If you hold the left mouse button and then click the right mouse button, it'll move to the next post in the list!!

    If anyone else is using Opera, give it a try and let me know if it works for everyone, or if I'm just <i>special</i>. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
