And continues to plague my existance when I try to search, but I think I remember SOMEWHERE Flayra commenting on the fact that the Marines are supposed to be entirely about team work.
I think most of you agree, right?
I believe I also remember another comment about Jetpacks were mainly to serve marines a traveling advantage through maps, or to help flush aliens out of vents, not to enable marines to become one man armies. I think sYn, egc and a few other top of the line clans have proved something about this.
Using jetpacks currently is a major skill, and a good jetpacker, well, I've seen plenty of solo marines take out Power Silo, Refinery, and a few others. Not that this is a mapper fault. Yet it's more of a gameplay.
Wasn't headshots, recoil, and the like all removed to remove a certain element of skill? Oh I know a good bit of webbing and righly placed OC's will take care of those problems. Still. It's gone from what seemed to be a support role. Into one of the biggest tactical advanges of marines around.
Any comments?

... I've also seen a group of JP'ers utterly dominate. As well as solo JP'ers dying miserably, along with a whole group of 10 JP marines getting torn up by Lerks and screaming Skulks.
I don't think there's a problem here, aside from refueling issues and FPS. A JP makes a good marine better, and a better marine great, just like all of their upgrades and gizmos.
I remember I got a JP and an HMG and took out Waste Handling all by my lonesome. There were SIX skulks running around below me that couldnt attack me. If they tried to drop down from me on the cieling, i just moved and they missed. It was so unfair that I couldnt stop laughing. gg
Until then, get good at playing Lerk.
Personally, i have taken hives down many times with a jetpack and shotgun or HMG, heck even LMG can do it. However, i have never been able to use the fuel bug to my advantage(not that i ever needed or wanted to anyway) because my computer barely stays over 25 fps stable.
However, i agree, one thing im certain that will be fixed for 1.1 is the JP not being able to refuel in midair, and i completely agree with that decision.
Just remember, you cannot have a completely skillless game guys, if you limited people to just run and shoot the FPS aspect of NS will cease to exist, this mod is incredible because of the mix or skill and strategy required to beat a good team, however, in the present, skill is a major factor, and it can turn the tide of the game.
Flayra did mention he would make skill be less important than strategy... ill wait to see what happens in the future.
something like 'i made them cheaper and cheaper and cheaper to try and get people to use them, but i made a mistake and now they're just too cheap'

if a gorge builds just 2 or 3 walls of lame, marines cant pass them but jetpackers can.
If a gorge builds O an D chambers spread over the map marines can pass them easier, but jetpackers cant find good resting points anymore.
Wuld be kind good if say a hmg pushed jet pack back a little from recoil you know oposites and all that..
recharge on ground would be good but they ok a good lerk can take em down. be nice if oc's tracked them a bit better..
The original points being made here are for another version, a different balance, a different NS. Start up a new thread if you want to discuss the current vision of jetpacks.
