Wierd Texture Problems

WARNING - POTENTIAL NON MAPPING QUESTION
To start off, I'll let you know that most of you have probably never experienced this problem. It's not related to mapping (I don't think so anyway), it's just a wierd problem.
95% of the time I play a map with a SKY texture, I get bad performance and a weird effect as if the texture isn't there. When I look out the window my screen goes crazy. It even shows up when I am in close proximity but not looking at the sky texture. This happens on all maps(hera, eclipse etc) with SKY textures (CS as well... dust.. blah blah). The reason I am asking here, is because it is having a direct affect on my abilty to compute proper r_speeds when close to the phenomenon and hence slowing my map design up. I appologize if it has no reason being here.

Two examples

hehe. I wish it was just a leak. Would be much easier to solve than sending my computer to rehab.

That's the problem, it's every map.... ns_hera, ns_eclipse, de_dust, de_nuke Short of reinstalling HL and NS I was just hoping someone could help. I'll re-install everything if I have too, but I gotta did and find my original HL cd then.

yeah. I did most of that stuff, one of the biggest "oddities" is the fact that 5% of the time it works fine.

if your GFX card is too much overclocked or too hot you can easily get such gfx bugs.
check other (old) games in openGL for simular bugs.
if they happen its just a way of your GFX card to say, that its diing right now.

You know what... That could be the problem. A while ago, I noticed my fan was not working on my vid card and I replaced it. Maybe it overheated while the fan was out and caused some damage.
