<div class="IPBDescription">easier way to victory</div> i just happened to notice a game where almost all marines had a mic...it was like a hole new ns to me..every marine knowed where aliens runned..coz mic..the information goed from marine to marine...i was comm on that game, and My job was Sooooo easier when they could communicate to others...like no needs to tell if some skulk was in vent...one marine spotted it and telled it to others...
It was soo awesome game..even thou aliens putted up a one god damn figh..but after long game marines winned..but i can surely say that whit out mic..nah we had losen the game in 20 minutes.

No alien could attack the group of marines from behind, as soon skulks legs showed up at corner, marine that secured groups rear telled immediatly to others and kazaam..all marines point fired to skulk...mince meat

my opinion... mic.squad leader and few fellow mic.marines following is a team that is almost unbeatable.... '

+ Comms job 1000 times easier...

Grrrrrrrrr..now there is something to reply heh...LOL

Mic definitely makes the teamwork easier. Like there was this one game, I kept asking the commander for upgrades because we were being whipped. We still had no upgrades after building a prototype lab and several turret farms and phase gates. And then I thought I would spam the chat box,'Commander give us upgrades, commander give us upgrades..etc', turned out he couldn't hear voice!! He gave the upgrades, but we lost anyway because he didn't have a clue what was going on, i.e. couldn't hear the important stuff that the team was reporting to him.

    Two problems:

    1. You sometimes dont hear what people are saying, and end up saying "What?" "Come again?" until the aliens eat you

    2. As a commander you orders are followed alot more often if you type them... at least mine are

Writing is a lot better. I hardly understand people when they scream something weird to their mics and always have to ask them to type it. And I'm not alone either. You'll need a very good mic and connection so it won't break up and most people don't have those two things. A bad mic (especially if it's the commander) can destroy the game. If you are verbally super-skilled, you might be able to create a single understandable sentence and the mic might be of some use...

The only problem is when people are talking non-stop so you can't hear marines or skulks coming. One time some dude just screamed "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!", and the whole marine team went silent cause the guy sounded ****. Then we saw the kill sprite in the corner and he got back on the mic and said "OK, you guys can talk again". It was funny as hell.

Mic's can be good and bad. I type as its more 'certain' with mic some ppl hear, some don't also with accents and stuff it can be very hard to understand.

One very annoying thing is if people think their voice is working well but is isn't. They end up screaming down the mic and all you hear is "OMG...skulk in.....ilation.....ogogo". They say why didn't you listen but you couldn't hear.

TIP: "voice_loopback 1" lets you hear what you said.

yes yes..i had that problem too that my sound was horrible...but i fixed it..no it is clear and good...and for those screamers..u dont have to scream anytihng on mic...simply: Skulk behind...Skulk in Vent etc..at least i can hear io good...but it still requires that TEAM work on top of mic..it aint good if everybody just roams and yells to mic: comm hmg.. tf here. team work first..then mic

    1.Speak Clearly
2.Well should marines follow orders anyway..spoken or typed...

The best commander I ever served under, [CoFR]Mustard, was in CONSTANT communication with our team so that we never had to wonder what he was doing or why he wasn't dropping whatever critical thing we were asking for. Skill and experience wise we were evenly matched against the alien team, yet we dealt them a crushing defeat since we were so organized.

I finally went out and picked up a good headset mic for many reasons. The primary reason is I was tired of being in critical situations and having to choose between typing out a hurried message or trying to fix it solo. It might not seem like much, but while I type I'm a sitting duck. With voice I can now talk and fight at the same time. Sometimes a few seconds are critical, such as the time it takes to destroy or build a phase gate. Also when you're trying to type fast under pressure you can make mistakes, an important missing letter can completely change the meaning of what you're trying to say. It has been my experience that (clear) voice messages tend to draw more attention than text ones. Voice messages quickly provide valuable intelligence to your team, and a team that stays in constant communication has a serious tactical advantage.

The important thing to remember when playing on a team that all have voice is that you can basically only hear one person at a time. Try and prevent voice chatter from getting clogged up. If everyone talks at once, no one can hear anything. If it's not critical, consider sending a text message. If only a few members on your team have mics it's easy to elect field commanders. If everyone has a mic, it can help a lot to single out one or two marines to do most of the talking with the commander.
