Because vegging can kill you.
This post made possible by a story about a man who almost died from a leg clot.
Most of us these days think that we are young, virile, and invincible. Such is not that case... and we have to realize that things we do, case in point extended sessions of ns, can lead to serious health problems.
Its disturbing to look at the numbers of obese and overweight people in the world, and chances are... even if you think you are ok.. you may be one of them.
So here are some tips to keep you healthy.. happy... and alive... and maximize the pleasure of gameing for years.
1.Carpal tunnel is what many of us who sit and work in front of a computer have to worry about... you can do a few things... and I think taking 1 minute out of your ns gaming to help decrese the chances of being hurt are worth it... Here is a quick list... http://www.ctsplace.com/exercise.php ... Just when a game ends... spend a min or two in the ready room and stretch.
2. Eye strain..... one of our other worst enemies... glare... it can lead to various eye problems.... when you are transfixed on your game you can lose sight of how harmful this can be... no pun intended... so every fifteen minutes or so... look around your room.. .refocus your eyes... look at something far... then something close.. give them a workout. You shouldnt have to strain your eyes to see the screen. You can buy anti glare screens for around 10 dollars or a flatscreen monitior is much more helpful than the older "bubble" monitors as i like to refer to them.
3. Blood clots.. as was mentioned in the other article.. is one of the most dangerous things you can possibly have... my suggeststion... get up.... walk around... and make sure you are active in your life... heck... just an hour ago i took 50 mins out of my day and went down to my local gym and just worked out a bit.. .gave myself a workout ... got my blood flowing. With how unhealhy many people are... blood clots can form without warning. So you dont have to join a gym or run 4 miles a day like me... simply get up... maybe while waiting to respawn... jump up and down.. do a few pushups... run around to get pumped for when you spawn...
These are a few simple things that i think many of us overlook.. that can be vital to our health.... on and number one on my list .... TAKE BREAKS!!!!!
Todays health message was brought to you by the letter "q" and the number "4"
Good gaming.. good living.
