very annoying
the most annoying there is in NS, is marines that dont obey their comms orders...seen so many ns games that have ended aliens winning because marines aint listenin comm. and top of that they usually blame that comm is n00b coz marines lose... sometimes i just want to thoseLone wolf ramboass marines... and if u punis them by not giving weps, they just eject u...and again say ur n00b... MARINES OUT THERE...COMM IS GOD, obey orders, lose it doesent mean comm is bad or n00b, alien team could just be organized or better than marine team...

Well with that capital A attitude you bear, I'd do my utmost to annoy you I think. Teamwork means both ways, chum! I am not your little mindless C&C grunt.
Remember though if you want your marines to follow orders you must gain respect from them, talking down to them won't earn you that respect.
That is at least, untill a newb comm takes the attitude that the comm is god. There is nothing worse than a commander who doesn't know what hes doing, doesn't realise that he doesn't know what he's doing, and rejects any form of advice because he believes he is god. This would prompt a vote->eject from 99% of pub players and to be honest, i can't really blame them
We lost, bigtime. (yes, we had MT, and they still couldn't shoot skulks).
i was trying to get 2 hives but the dumb **** were just sitting around in base just getting ammo all the time so we lost lke Gen and Sewer
5 mins in the game i didn't resreach something 7 guys told me to and some **** tryed to vote me off
i mean Come on i can't freaking Resreach this 1st thing!

..... I think its the drinking water man... I've had this problem too, could be the air pressure or gravity. Something affecting aim so bad just aint natural. How can you fire 50 rounds at something not not hit it with 1. I mean statistics say the odds are 1 round will strike.. but.. ::shrugs::
The "i am god" thought is only good if you are a really good commander, and you can not be the one that decides that. If you are a really good commander most people will follow your orders without question. (give the noobs a chance, they don't understand this yet)
Also a commander has to be political sometimes. They have to make the troops feel that they are important, and that they are doing a good job. A commander that just yells at the troops to follow his orders isn't going to get a following of troops that say hes a good commander, hes just going to get people that say "oh great, SoandSo is commanding again"
And yes, this is my 100th post!!!
And Comm is NOT God. Arrogant commanders are usually purposely **** off by players.
The only thing that really annoys me is if my marines seem to feel that there is some exact perfect build order for every map and situation and if I don't FREAKING PHASE OMG HES A NOOB VOT EHIM OUT. Jesus calm down and listen, we'll get it done.
It works both ways, you need a good team and a good comm to win, this is a teamgame, there is NO GOD!
Praise Be!!!!
I love how some players "KNOW" the right way to Comm, but yet when the game starts and you offer them the chair, they run the other way...
"Being a comm is like having 10 girlfriends" They all want something, and giving it to one pisses off the other nine.
Give me a hmg/jp. COMM! Res node here! Mines, drop me some mines! OMG, WHY DON'T WE HAVE HEAVY ARMOR. Why does he get the hmg? I've been asking for one for the last 10 minutes!!!
*sigh* I thank my lucky stars I am part of a clan and now play with a majority of competent people.
All in all, yes the Commander is part of the team- but he's also the one in charge, not you. I especially hate players who stand around the room refusing to take the chair, and then when I reluctantly give up my chance to shoot aliens by taking the comm, they proceed to tell me what needs doing and where and how. If it gets bad enough, I leave the chair and ask them to take command. They after all know best.
-PLAYERS-
The best thing you can do for your commander is listen to him reguardless of what you think on the matter. If EVERYTHING goes as he says, and he fails he can learn from it. But if a few people don't follow his orders, and the game is lost he can justify the loss by your insubordinance- and fail to learn his own mistakes. It can be frustrating, sure- but maybe just maybe he has an idea you haven't thought of. Maybe it'll even work.
-COMMS-
While you will undoubtedly come across players who will want you to be their personal gift giver, there will also be people who know what they are talking about. Feel free to take advice, but don't let ANY of them dictate to you what to drop or build. Likewise- don't take the chair until you've had enough experience on the field to have a good idea of what needs doing in the vast amount of situations you will meet.
Also, I don't recommend building a structure for ONE person (outside of the base). A lone marine building a res node is a waste of 22 resources. All it takes is one stray skulk, or even a gorge, to screw it up.
As you will find out through experience however- there are exceptions to everything.

If I'm comming and I say Go Phase now and don't elaborate, it's because you are needed on the other side of the phase now... When you go through the phase and see the 3 fades nuking our outpost, then you will understand my plan...
However, I really try to keep my team involved. Things like:
"We're going to try to seige this hive, so I need all men through the phase gate to this waypoint" works wonders...
You have to know what buttons to press and when to press them. You have to treat her gently at first, giving her time to adjust to your own particular style. You have to pay her attention at all times; if you neglect her then she'll go somewhere else. Dont be afraid to experiment, but never push her when she says NO. Dont push too hard, but dont be too soft either; they like to know what they're getting. Talk to her, get to know her and remember she's not just there to be ordered around and used. Dont abuse your woman.
That would explain why my gun is always going off before I see an alien......

I wasa gunna say something like that, but leathernecks usually take it the wrong way. Key word is sensitivity to needs

My ****...PLz kind marine could u PLZ go to phase gate And Could U PLZ kill that skulk AND PLZ PLZ OH PLZ build that res node...
Of Course listem comm should listen players too..if they have somekind of thing that comm havent noticed...
I wish marines would do me the same courtesy. I give simple orders lay out a base plan of our strategy and then try to support the marines as best I can whilst carrying out the strategy and keeping them informed as to where we need help
This worked quite well today but normally I end up with 95% rambo's
My opening statements were
'I'll take the comm if no one else wants it but if you dont like the way I work just get in the comm seat yourself.' - I dont like to comm if I'm not welcome
'carrot - I have a mission for you, take this welder and seal up those vents. X go with him and keep that welder alive'
After the skulk rushing
'OK, we are going for teching up that means I want as many res points as quickly as possible. Split into teams of no less than 3 and go get me res points.'
'there will be no health yet and no phase gates or turret factories, I am saving res for upgrades'
Once we had enough to get 4 marines ha/hmg/welder
'You lot with the heavy equipment stick together, weld each other and move for feedwater the rest go with them and draw fire.'
at this point a couple disobeyed orders and collected some more res and re-gained res we had lost that I hadn't seen. This was smart and these two did much to help us.
now the heavies got sloppy and we took heavy casualties but we eventually took feedwater,
'Move straight to refinery, we are not securing feedwater, just move - quick'
I knew the aliens were low on res and most of their fades were down so I wanted it finished quick before they recovered i dropped loads of health and an armoury and phase at refinery but the marines got cocky and quite a lot died. By then we had enough res for me to equip the whole team (14 marines) in whatever they wanted and after a slapped wrist from me for letting skulks kill a platoon of heavies, they all worked together and stormed the hive.
This was not a standard tactic and I got a fair ammount of abuse from ppl who didn;t understand I didn't want to waste res on early shotguns/hmg's/phase gates but I just wanted to grab res and slow the aliens so they only had 2 hives when we had full upgrades and heavies and this tactic would not have worked if the marines had not followed orders.
So I say comm is NOT God or even a god, but he is Commander. As Commander it is his job to command, right or wrong that is his job. It is the marines job to follow the Commanders commands, right or wrong that is their job. You can vote eject - but be careful and as a last resort - other than that obey your commander because he may know something you don't or he may have had a bright idea.
[edit] ****. sorry, didnt mean to yabber on like that. to much beer I guess - going to bed now [/edit]
