I have to say this, since it's a patently false statement I'm quoting.
The medpack bind was in the binding menu in the original release of Natural Selection, for commanders to use. They needed to have the medpack 'menu' open, but then they could spam them by design.
It's a constant 2-res-a-pack way to fight against an onslaught. Figure it this way, better to spend 26 res on 13 medpacks to keep one HMG marine alive long enough to kill something, or lose the marine and spend another 26 res on a new HMG? One makes you lose time and ground, the other doesn't.

But the medpack spam method also requires commander attention constantly for a few seconds, to make sure the marine doesn't die, whereas the re-equipping a dead soldier takes only a moment of commander time. It all evens out.

and his command bind that he took from another guy who he gave credit too.. that command bind is the best <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
And medpack spam is justified in many ways, even if its annoying as hell(I know by first hand experience, suyf).
