    AFAIK crosshairs can't be animated.

Well, I know the crosshairs in DoD are animated, but I have no idea how they are coded/made/whatever.

That's not an animated sprite though - it's two sprites, one of which is told to move in that figure eight by the game's coding.

Actually, one sprite. The codiing just takes pixels from a certain part of the sprite, moves it up to the center of the other part while steady, and does the figure-eight while moving.

Though an animated sprite for the crosshair opens up some interesting ideas... If it's possible. Take any old animated sprite and rename it to the crosshair to test. I don't forsee loading NS up any time soon, but let me know what you come up with. I have something in mind.

Well yes, one sprite, but I was just sayin' about how with it being two bits of a sprite cut up like that, &c. It's either technically one sprite, or technically two sprites. I like to waffle, and sometimes I like to make sense.

Anyway, an animated crosshair sprite will just use the first frame of the animation. At least, it will in NS, because I had that same idea a month or so ago and tried it out.

Oh, well, there's your answer. Dang. Thanks, Souris. It's something to bring up with the dev team, though.

how could one get in touch with the dev team.. an animated crosshair would add much to the game, i think..also, about my blood question, does anyone know what the blood spray files are

This actually would be kinda cool, look at all the movies that show clips as seen through hud type technology, it would be interesting if we could make a sprite that could help reacreate that effect.

yeh, my idea was like a really cool crosshair with a solid dot in the center and a solid ring around it, and then 2 curved line types things rotating on he inside of the outer ring which are semi transparent and all blue...but if we cant do it then i guess we cant do it

You guys mean like in THE SPECIALISTS mod?

Yes we can have animated crosshairs.
You could just make an animated sprite and replace your crosshair with it.
Although i have no idea if the sprite would move from 1 frame to the other automatically without coding.

Souris tried putting an animated sprite as his crosshair and it didn't animate.

The coding required to make something as complicated and beautiful as, say, the T-800's point of view, would be immense, but it would be insanely cool, but not easy to code, of course. They'll be leaving the aesthetics for later on, from what I know. Gameplay comes first.
