<div class="IPBDescription">Will NS be upgraded with new menus?</div> Sorry if this as been asked sumwhere else, but i was just curious after downloading Steam and testing the new CS and HL.
The new menu's are a massive improvement and i just wanted to know whether NS would upgrade their menu's to the standard of the latest HL.
Thanks,

I hate the low res, it so much interlaced, makes me puke. Even ZDoom has better menu resolution.

Flay said NS will be supported by steam.

We've been in contact with VALVe about NS support on Steam and I think this will happen in the nearish future (although nothing is confirmed yet).

your misunderstanding, what flay means is ns will use the vgui2 technology but won't require steam.

I've never seen the VGUI 2... Do you have some screenshots please (I want to update my mod to it if it's possible)

Its a heck of alot better than the one now, the resolution it uses is the one you play HL with... no more freaking up my monitor with the low resolution menus....

The actual VGUI uses the HL resolution you play in...

Here's a screenshot from my mod. The HUD is made with the actual VGUI (look at the alert message):

ive used the new gui and i have this to say ......its WONDERFUL , the friends network is a great addition, it allows you to chat like aim, or msn to other people while in game. im hoping someone will come out with a aim plugin so i can talk to other people while playing a game. btw in the next patch the new gui and when you alt-tab in the game it allows you too come back with sound that works .....

I can't believe Valve is still releasing patches for HL. If you think about it, most games only come out with one or maybe two patches within a year or two after the game comes out. HL is coming on 5 years old and Valve is about to release something like its 50th patch. Of course, one could always be incredulious and say that the game should have been right in the first place; but with that attitude, it would still not be released. Kudos Valve, the rest of the gaming industry should follow your lead.

Actually, this isn't a patch for HL. Steam is a totally separate program that would work with any game, you don't actually need HL to play CS on Steam.

from what ive heard steam will be inside the next patch of halflife, but you dont need halflife to use steam, infact steam is also there for them to sell games right out of the program instead of doing the exspensive process of packaging the game and sending it to stores you can just order it right off steam. so from what ive been hearing steam will be w/the new patch and as a standalone application to purchase games from. i guess cs, and anything else with halflife will always remain free as long as you own halflife + key etc. you wont be forced to buy everything over again off steam. hope this clears things up.

The new Steam 2.0 beta works quite nicely for me. Initially the Steam content servers were overloaded, it is getting better. I am eager to try outy a virtual NS installation from Steam, without having to worry about disk space. Steam fetches and caches files and mods when they are actually run, and reuses the disk space of less recently used ones. Besides, Steam now allows me to play Opposing Force for free!
