<div class="IPBDescription">I Hate you DirectX 9.0 <HELP></div> I very foolish installed DirectX 9.0 and now Black & White refuses to run.
It's a very funny game, and i'm dying to get back into it and watch my
creature eat small children and set fire to their homes.

Does anyone if it's possible to roll back to DirectX 8.1?
If so, how?

    Infuriatingly, its always been impossible to install an older version of directx over a newer one. It just refuses to do so.
    So I don't know what to suggest. Are there any new patches for Black and White? They might fix the problem. If there isn't, they would almost have to release one if the problem is to do with the game not using directx properly, anyway.

    The lastest B&W patch is rather old. And doesn't seem to help at all <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
    I've been looking for a way to contact LionHead Studio's and ask them
    to release a patch for us DirectX 9.0 users/suckers but no such luck.

    DX 9 seems to screw up alot of stuff. I installed it, and bam...GTA3 stopped working (AND I HAD ALMOST BEAT IT (!*@(@!), and Max Payne refuses to load maps <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    All this and there won't even be a game that uses DX9 for the next 6-12 months.

    Seriously though I played that before and I tried to get my temple to Non-evil or even semi-evil. But my only tactic for gaining new land was throwing fireballs and killing everybody in the town then sending 1 of my villagers to go live there.

    OK I'm really tired and really annoyed. It's past 3am here in the UK.
    I've just completely removed ALL Black & White files.
    The lastest Nvidia Drivers.
    All DirectX 9.0 files (using DirectX-Buster)
    Done a registry Clean to remove any registry entries from
    either of the above that the UNINSTALLER's might have missed.
    I then installed Direct 8.1, Nvidia 30.82 drivers (good old safe one's)
    Black & White, and B&W's patch....... the result?

    Imagine the below flickering 8000 time's per-second,
    triangles made up of weird coloured pixels flashing everywhere,
    and your head is about to implode from the frustration.

    after messing with something like DX (forcibly ripping it out as you did) I would personaly say that it is time to reformat ;D
