<div class="IPBDescription">omggggg</div> my current ns box is 750mhz...
maxplayers 12(1 reserved)
on 1.03 it was on 90% cpu and little high pings(100-200)...
now on 1.04 it's 30-40% cpu and very very low pings..
that just rocks..
post your current cpu and 1.03 cpu usage if you want <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Would also post, but some **** have been DDOS:ing half the freaking internet today because of an exploit in MS SQL. SOOOOO The ISP that hosts my server has been down all day.

Before 104, this same box would struggle with 16 players on some maps but 20 players seems to run in a very playable fashion. If I bump it up to 24 players, we start getting the 400+ pings.

death, are you using adminmod, or any addons? Can you PM / post your server.cfg and command line start params? Are you using halfd?

you can't compare NS to CS.

NS puts CS to shame as far as code and server work.

I realize NS's code is more complex but the fact of the matter is the windows code for NS uses nearly the same CPU as CS and for the Linux code to be performing this poorly is extremely disappointing.

there is 1 thing i do not understand..
with 9 players i got 20-35% cpu usage.
    with 13 ppl i got 80% with 100+ pings..
4 ppl take so much cpu?
    edit:
    1 player join(10 ppl now) 40%
it's like i gotta run a server with 9 so it won't take a lot of cpu

Im just posting to throw out a comparison for you Linux people. I may go to Linux as well depending on other peoples experiences. My servers run fairly well now and I don't want to take a step backwards in cpu utilization.

    Box #1
IBM x330 (1U rack mount. Little guy)
Dual P3 1.266 (hlds affinity to one processor)
Windows 2000 Server (yeah I know)
    30 person server
    Map Caged.
    75-89% CPU. (I think its a tad higher with 1.04 than 1.03)
    2nd processor at zero

    Box #2
    IBM x330 (1U rack mount)
Dual P3 1.266 (hlds not bound to either processor)
Windows 2000 Server (yeah I know)
2 servers at 18 person per server
1 server full now at 35%
1 server with 4 people at 6% (approx)
Server is actually acting a tad weird so take this one with a grain of salt (services taking 20%)

    Running Adminmod and antiafk.
