1.04h Cloaking (w/ Screenshots)

Yup
I must say I REALLY like the new cloaking in 1.04. Very nice enhancement to it. Below are three images. The first is a skulk cloaked on a wall in a moderately dark area. The second is the same picture, but me looking farther down the wall (no health circle). The third is one of a cloaked skulk in the middle of a fairly bright hallway.

Sorry but bad example. With pic compression and downsampling it will "blend" the outlines of the skulk into the background neways. Best thing to do is to try it yourself and see how the new sensory works.

Well, I was there in game, and it was just as hard to see him as it was in the pics. He evolved to Fade shortly after and was run smack into by a Marine in a VERY brightly lit area right after. Seeing firsthand would be better yes... but still, those screens are pretty accurate.

P.S.- If you really need to see a better pic, I have a full size (same res as I run NS) image where the only thing I did was convert the .bmp to a full 24bit .png file. About as close to an in game experience as you can get. I will email it upon request... but I'm not going to put a file that big up for public consumption. It's 900k.

Now, having an Onos decloak inches in front of me is a pants-filling experience that I have thankfully never dealt with before. I couldn't spot the Skulk in any of those pictures, except for the health bar, of course, and fail to see what anyone was complaining about.

If you still have the source bitmaps save them in .png and the outline of the skulk will show.

I thought I already cleared up this issue in an older replica of this thread.

    I guess not?

I've won a couple of games in which they builded sensory before movement . And it works really great if you know how to play then. No, it wasn't against n00b marines.

This is a good improvement, however i still dont think it will change D>M>S.

Played on the PC Zone server the other night when one of my clan members "accidently" went gorge and built a sensory for second chamber- our gorge at the time actually thought that you could only get sensory at third hive. He'd played so little that the oft-used order of D>M>S seemed literally hard-coded to him Oh, and we won the game at least.

I haven't experienced the changes and as said the screenies are a bit... non-representative, but I'm hoping like hell that this turns out alright.

Edcrab, what tag you play under on Zone? I'm on there pretty regular.

The only way that will happen is if Sensory offers something else useful besides just cloaking, like perhaps causing holes in Motion Tracking.

    >NCBR< Edcrab. And I apologise in advance for BMT if you ever see him... he can't help his agression problems (I hope he isn't reading this)

On topic: I still don't know what magical new abilities are going to be added to the sensory chamber- but making holes in MT sounds a valid one to me.

teh fact is unless you as a mrine stand still and really look for a cloaked anything, it'll be to late and you'll be chomped or hacked, you aint got time as a mare to examine everywhere.

Yes, I put up Sensory before Movement that game. Mostly to get screenshots of Cloaking. Honestly though? I think I'm going to try that strategy more often now. You don't need adrenaline as a Fade or Silence/Celerity as a Skulk if you never have to do anything but stand in a hallway and swipe marines at point blank who run smack into you! It's also GREAT as a gorge. Stand around building stuff while cloaked. Hmm... now that I think about it... this would be really nasty in the early game now. Just put up one Sensory (since just one gets you near inviso now) at a mere 10 res after the first res tower. If the marines don't take motion tracking early, it could be devastating. Must ponder...

It works beautifully. Level 3 cloak is wonderfully quick to kick in, and level 1 is still nearly invisible. If you want proof that it works, here's a scenario:

You're a marine on Eclipse. You open the left-hand door to exit the Marine spawn, go through, and turn the corner to head down the hall. Just then, your legs get ripped off FROM BEHIND by a skulk. That skulk was me, last night... I was perched on the wall *directly opposite* that door, at eye level no less. He walked right by me, and never heard my silenced steps as I dropped down and caught up with him. If that's not a high-lighting environment, I don't know what is.

Could someone get the .bmp images from the poster and convert them to png (or leave as bmp images) and host em so the rest of us can see them? I find it hard to believe that so many people have been complaining if the aliens are that much cloaked.

P.S. I would build sensory first if the alien at least had partial cloaking while they were moving. But having defense towers for the hive and to support the team/OT is just too important.

I think everyone has been complaining about the idea of it rather than the actuality
