<div class="IPBDescription">quick 'n' dirty win on ns_eclipse</div> well, i'm not the one that came up with this strat, so credit goes to Squishy (the comm that did it, dont remember when/what server/wonid etc.)
first off: 2 spawn portals, armory, and observatory, once all that is built, drop 2 packs of mines (everything has to be in that little room with the CC, forget the RT, since the 1-2 guys defending the base will be able to pick any skulks off that go for it) have those 2 guys that got mines put them by the doors/in the dark path to the cc (either/both work just as good, only doors take a bit longer to replace), right after that immediately build a phase gate in your base, scan the hive rooms to see which has it. then give all but 1-2 marines (8vs8 games are best for this, as you'll get 5 rushing and 2 defending until the other gate is up, more about that later) orders to move just outside the hive room the hive is in, make sure they dont go in and alert them, drop another phase gate right outside the room, have them build it, then tell them all to go in and attack the hive, unless you get really good aliens, and/or poor marines, they wont stand a chance.
on a side note, the guy called is a 'squishy rush' (see 1st line of post)
also sometimes marines dont like to follow your 'stupid idiot n00b orders' or 'comm is insane giving us stupid orders like that' and everyone's favorite: 'GET SOME freaking TURRETS!!!11' (or 1337 5p34|< equivilant)

Good tactic for solid ramobos.
Hehe its very intense waiting just outside there hive and seing skulks spawning and running off in the other direction. If im playing with mates on lan i wait until the quietest moment then he drops it and spams to every1 else : THROUGH PHASE EVERY ! NOW NOW NOW, lol.
Soon enough they all arive and we shoot down there hive hopefully survivng the skulk attacks. Normally only a few left and then they spawn like right in front of u sometimes. Poor skulks

Tech rush is extremely viable, and IMO, laying down an arms lab with your original 90 bucks is really helpful. getting level 1 armor at the beginning of the game seems to boost the marine effectiveness immensely.

Not quite. BUT, this tactic has been tried, and has failed miserably in clan matches. Skulks can use PGs too, and at either side of the PG they are on, they can cause havoc. Marines will be harrassed before they get anywhere near the hive, and maybe repulsed, and if they get the phase up, they had better leave close to half their team in their original base or it gets munched.
On pub games however, it is usually better to just make a CC + as many IPs as you can make right outside the hive, and overwhelm the aliens with spawning speed.
Also, the lower hitpoints of the PG and most of all the +use to phase requirement makes phases MUCH easier to attack.
As to lvl 3 carap - no way. You can be lucky to have lvl 1 carap by the time of the phase rush, or it isn't a rush.
so then i changed tactics and quickly set up a siege at their first hive, and we won the game sooo easy <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
just to simple for marines to outres aliens in the early game
what u do is order all ur guys to a hiveroom at the very start-build NOTHING
then kill the hive if its there <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> , and if not build a cc there and everything else. Then once u get armory and tf go next hive, then get phase and u pretty much win. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
The one time I spoke for and took part in a hive rush was when skulks had in early game eaten our cc and it was the only chanse we had to win.
