Using Comm Chair As A Shield

Not sure has anybody ever mentioned this? (i did some search).

It may sound little weird <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ... if you have factory in some corner and there are turets around it so skulks can't destroy it, but fades/lerks can shoot out of turrets range directly to factory. What about putting com chair in front of that factory?? It will take forever to destroy a com chair with acid rocets/spikes. Com chair "only" costs 30rp. I mean that if you have, lets say about 10 turrets there 30 rp is not much for protecting factory.

Ok...there is one problem: commander will hear all the time that "commader chair is under attack" <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I've seen it done before in-game. I've heard it referred to as the wall of lame (marine-style). Stacking CCs two high and two deep in the right chokepoints gives your team an AWFUL lot of time to breathe.

    Fades take most of the cases the turrets out before they take the tf out. So it will only be a waste.

    Urza - Fades often take out a turret before the factory. This usually allows you to rush the tf and get in close where the other turrets can't hit you.

    Paq - My goodness. What sort of games are you playing where the comm builds 10 turrets in one place? An additional CC (especially 2) is really a waste of resources. Put a phase down for cheap and you have marines in an instant when you need backup for your tf.

    Ok lets say 5 turrets then <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ....it was just an excample that how cheap com chair is compared with bunch of turrets. If marines lock down two hives i have several times seen more than 10 turrets. And protecting those turret factories you can defend them by com chair, if there is few fades alive or they are trying to attack with lerks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    In a game in ns_eclipse , the marines were losing , and the comander decided to do that 'wall of lame' , well he said he would bunkerise the marines .
    He put 2 CC in each door , and that was hell useful , well , it just prolongated our defeat . A few guys with welders repairing the CC can hold the aliens out till they get the 3rd hive and spore <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->


    It was great , if you need to defend urself till the end ( and not pressing F4 ) then using this helps a lot.

    Turrets suck...h8 them. Only sieges are good, well...because they have wall hax!

    I guess for a last ditch effort this isn't too bad...but at the same time if you have 30 x 4 = 120 (or however many CC's worth) resources wouldn't you just give 3 Hamjets (HMG + JP = Hamjet <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->) or 2 HAHMG + Welders? They can do the damage required to take out a hive or 2...or 3 if they work together with help from health spamming comm.

    Maybe I'm wrong but that's my opinion.

    They can be stacked? Argh. Glad I haven't seen this yet, although I've seen a single CC used at a mini-base in a similar fashion.

    i have seen some one use this strategy but a little differnt. they blocked the door to there base entirely with 20 com chairs iit took 20 mins to get through with 2 onos a fade and a lerk. they were also shooing a massive amound of nades at us

    Well the other day I saw a commander that used the CC as an offensive weapon . The marines controlled already 2 hives and they were going to easily take the last hive . I was marine and when I arrived at the place with the hive apart from the normal number of offensive towers and such . The commander had placed at least 10 CC around there (we had a lot of resources). Not following a partern . I think he wanted to make the movements of the skulks harder .

    But seriously. I HAVE seen this done. Our commander (this is on eclipse) blicked the Marine spawn doors with CC's during a lull in the endgame Fade/onos rush. We set em two CC's high and we had guys with welders behing the CC's <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    We ended up lasting pretty long but ultimately losing <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->


    Now Picture this. If it takes 17 acid rockets to destroy a turret, how many would it take to destroy a CC...?

    Not a bad idea for a defence against incoming fades. It sounds like with this strategy you could give yourself enough time to make a come back if you got some guys welding it.

    Yeah but during that time you could make alot of turrets and upgrading the marines and giving them weapons slowly.     SENTRY TURRETS DO NOT SUCK AT LVL 3 WEAPON UPGRADE!!

    Hell!! 3-4 of them can even take down caraspaced Fade easily

    Most Comm are flaw in the sene that they believe mass sensory turret is better than weapon upgrade.. IT IS COMPLETELY FALSE!!! Get that Motion Tracker up early and get lvl 1 weapon upgrade fast.. Not only turrets become more effective, your marines will love you for doing so.. Also with Motion Tracking you can see mass skulk rush coming EASILY from your mini map. A mass turreted hive can't take 5-6 skulks rush unless there are marines defending close by.. And you won't see mass skulk rush coming unless you have motion tracker! (also it's good to prepare against base rush..

    Remember!! It is always too late when 2-3 skulks are biting the phase gate.. You want to make sure your marines are there before the skulks got within the range.. How do you do that?? Motion tracking!

    Wow I just thought of another use for this, if your Marines can't hold Holoroom and Skulks are pouring in through the vent, you could block it off with a CC and have 1 Marine weld it now and then.
