Just going off of what the installer size is. Though now that I've checked, the full folder is 1/4th the size of CS... but then again, a lot of models are missing, so... *shrug* It could be anything really.

I have spent time building some relationships with various mirror sites in the US, Europe, and the South Pacific. There will be plenty of servers to go around, you needn't worry.

As for size, hard to say. There probably won't be 20 maps and WADS like most mods, so that should cut the size down a bit from the usual...

hmm. the nstr2 == 34.6mb. that, plus 5 alien models, plus the marine model, plus the alien building models (I'm guessing that there are 7) and the marine building models(7 also), plus the sprites & sounds, plus Hera and Bast (I'm guessing 3 megs for each map), and their respective wads, comes out to 58.3 megabytes. not too shabby.

And all the weapon models, music, etc... I wouldn't be so quick to make out a guess on a file size. If MonsE catches you suggesting something like this, thus spreading misinformation, your hide is gonna be whipped. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    Yeah...

oh, so now they're zooming past their denial of freedom of speech into the domain of denying freedom of speculation? come on. It was just a guess.

I'm not concerned about you saying anything Bozo; I am concerned about people with playtester or moderator status speculating; other people think of these indivudual's thoughts as the real deal, even though they are just as in the dark as you are.

    Speculate away.

    Ah... that makes more sense.

Sorry bozo. It was meant to be taken lightly anyways. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Also, if I may chime in.  The problem with speculation in general is that it starts rumors.  It blows me away everytime I hear this wacko thing about NS.  Speculative posts are repeated, others take it non-speculatively, then they mix up the details, then suddenly everyone is chanting complete garbage.

It's hard enough to get all the info we WANT to out there, but speculation and people saying stuff that they don't know to be true throws a wrench in things. :)

hmmmmmm, with the information gathered from this thread, I guess it will be somewhere between 20 and 400 mb. Am I right?  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

Not too far off - I was going to say between 64K and 1.7TB.
  • Spyder_MonkeySpyder_Monkey Vampire-Ninja-Monkey Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 8Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
Wouldn't it be awesome to squeeze all of this into a 64k installer program? <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> I've got many a gigs left on my hard drives, so bring it on.

    ...but the NS full install will INCLUDE CS 1.4. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Well it all depends on whether you're talking Installer or Installed. The installer for CS is 113MB or thereabouts. The installed size is 400MB+. The installer for the playtest is 80MB, and the installed size is around 120MB. Now, that's missing a lot of stuff, but I'm thinking that LPC was quite right.

    It could be ANYTHING.

And the Netherlands are NOT icky.

Hippolytushoeg, it's not really a city, more like a village. it's in the 'kop van Noord-Holland' near the Afsluitdijk.
