<div class="IPBDescription">any good for HL?</div> My milkshape trial has run out, so ive been looking for replacements. I found out my friends dad owns a copy of 3d Studio Max 4. Is this any good for half-life modelling? I hear its only good for high-poly models <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    no, you just need some practice. Once you get used to max its probably the best modeling software available. Personally i started on ms3d and went to max and i only use ms3d for compiling models now. Max has a host of great features available. if you want any tutorials theres a bunch that may help at www.scifi-meshes.com and <a href='http://3dcafe.com/asp/tut3ds.asp' target='_blank'>http://3dcafe.com/asp/tut3ds.asp</a> .     the only thing that keeps me from max is the steep price (3000$ is abit to mutch)

    lol resetting the system date wont work, the latest versions of milkshape are so far "uncrackable" just pay the 20 dollars if u can afford it, its well worth it.

    I must admit, I am a bit of a pirate myself...only because I can't afford much these days. I tried 3D Studio Max and I was so overwhelmed.     3d studio max is a great piece of software, and while the interface can be daunting, just remember-- for low poly modeling, you won't be using 90% of the features. In fact, you can get by just sticking to the primitives, edit mesh modifier, and mapping/unwrapping modifiers.

    Animating opens up a whole new can of worms, though.
